If Bleed bypasses ES and damages HP directly, then that logically means Bleed instakills CI.
I don't understand the confusion here.
Does bleed bypass ES on PoE 1 ? YES
Does bleed instakill CI chars on PoE 1 ? NO

Or, is there a stepwise generation? For example the default is Aug. Each Aug has a 1/3 probability to become a Trans. Then each Trans has a chance to become a Regal, every Regal could become an Exalt and so on? If so does +100% make each of these steps twice as likely?
Most modern ARPG do that way, and PoE does that for what I recall. It's a "tier" system, and each drop goes through the rarity scale, just like gear, it drops white then throw dices for going magic, rare & so on.
For rarity the percent in a rarity scale is easy, at 100%: the chance of getting a regal out of the previous tier/rarity is just twice as more likely... and with weights, they can control what is more or less impacted as SlipperyJim shown.
As you can see in his graphs, the amount stays "somewhat" the same, but the distribution shifts toward magic/rare or higher tier currencies. So you have kind of the same quant (still with a bit of boost tho), but higher quality.

0 Rarity vs 100 is a completely different game.

His methodology is flawed.
Rarity has diminishing returns.
Try 0 Rarity vs 100.
That's literally what he did. Watch the video :|

People defend GGG with "GGG has the data, they know what they're doing".
According to them in this interview, they have no data about anything.
So that doesn't really hold up anymore.
They're just back from break, and we're getting a pretty good update imo. They said they haven't had the time yet to look at everything. There are a lot of issues still, sure, but they're going in the right direction imo, have some patience.

CI (without MoM) is SUPPOSED to be instadeath vs Bleeds. They thought it was, they were wrong, and intend to rectify it.
They said it's a bug but the evidence strongly suggests otherwise. If it's a bug, then they also made a big mistake in the tooltip because it explicitly states it won't be triggered until health is damaged.
I think they will realise they were mistaken, no doubt this was changed at some point and amongst all the other things in flux they forgot this detail about how it triggers.
