DM and Ghazzy asked many amazing questions, yet all of them were dodged.
"We will need to investigate"
"Soon"
"We haven't checked"
People defend GGG with "GGG has the data, they know what they're doing".
According to them in this interview, they have no data about anything.
So that doesn't really hold up anymore.
The worst part was them defending Rarity.
Droprates are balanced around Rarity. Rarity is a mandatory stat. You will get absolutely no Orbs without Rarity.
Implying that blue orbs are as exciting a drop as Exalts was wild.
They were completely clueless about how their own game mechanics work (Rarity, CI), and even when Ghazzy explained it to them, they still dismissed it, alongside all the other feedback they straight up dismissed for the few cases their answer wasn't "I don't know":
Rarity and droprates being balanced around it is a problem? Dismissed.
Movement speed being more common or implicit? Dismissed.
Lower tier affixes being too common when rolling higher tier items? Dismissed.
Crafting = slot machine? Dismissed, because "deterministic not good"?
So what was all the hype for? To tell us you can replace Runes now? Okay.
The whole interview was Ghazzy and DM talking to a wall.
It's giving "Do you not have phones?"
It is bewildering to me how anyone would find this interview positive.
I got completely opposite impression. They were open and honest.

Same, i really loved that video and Q and A.
Reading some posts, it seems we didnt see the same thing. There is so few objectivy , so much hate on some posts i simply cant understand how some ppl can get to this point for a video game. The devs come back from holidays, make several changes for this week, including some nice QoL, and annoucing another big patch following this one, i found this very nice, and was thinking :
This gonna calm down the angry kiddos on forums.... but no. Of course.
It is not enough, it is never enough, and will never be enough. The game could have 450 fixes and improvement tomorrow, they would still get sued. What a nice community on this forum.
Anyway, i guess its kiddos@2025.
Really good job devs, thanks a lot for the investement, please continue, game is already so good !

The guy you’re quoting has no idea what he’s talking about. Obviously there’s a product owner for this game who knows all of the details and presumably he’s the one GGG had give the interview (why would it ever be someone else?). Most people in these forums don’t have any idea how software development is managed, they’re just kids.
The way you're talking its pretty clear you have no idea and you're just projecting your head canon.
First of all anyone who knows anything about this subject will recall that GGG has had multiple meta's where they had team leads off camera to help cover questions of specific expertise. Not only do I know what I'm talking about you can go see it for yourself and stop just making things up.
This even spawned the old twitch "devcheck" emote meta. maybe you remember that? Or maybe you don't because you're talking like you've got no idea about any of this.
I expect they've grown comfortable not doing this over the last few years because its less exhausting and no matter how much they walk on egg shells they've figured out that at least some percentage of players are just going to have moms basement ideas about how the real world functions.
No. I do this for a living. Every application at this level of scale and complexity has a product owner. How on earth do you think the work is prioritized, by some committee vote by the individual function leads? LOL.

So first job eh?
Pandering to players who don't want consequences for their mistakes is a perfect description of what went fundamentally wrong with D3 and 4.
If they wanted mindless mobile game time waster gameplay they sure did make some perplexing choices and marketing statements for 6 fucking years.

The interview reminds me why I left PoE1 and went to Last Epoch.
Jesus Christ it's like they were trying to dodge bullets in the matrix. Like why even waste anyone's time doing an interview if you're not going to answer questions.

Likely an attempt to string people along, devs do not want to change it and will leave it over your head to keep you playing. Once wilds releases and it slashes their player numbers into oblivion they might rethink that strategy.

The fact this isn't setting off alarms for people that played during harvest or archnemesis is baffling, but I guess stockholm syndrome is a bitch.
The fact that endgame is so bad it make's d4 look good should also be alarms. Or the whole "we're boosting droprate and then not saying by how much" because it's gonna be 10% again.
Also yes, a lot of the new people are still in campaign, act 2 to be exact. Just look at how full the hubs are. This is how it always goes.

I don't understand why we needed a 2 hour interview for "Everything is fine, we don't care about your feedback, nothing will change".

100% agree with the op. There was a lack of basic understanding of what players are going through in this EA. Just because those two had no problems maintaining maps... does not mean that a person that has 100ms higher latency and is getting one shot out because of lagspikes is fine.
I'm still BAFFLED why GGG is forcing this 1 dead penalty into POE 2 when the 6 portal thing was working fine in POE 1. It can't be that hard to code the boss restart but leaving the rest of the map empty.
It really sounds to me like the calls made are no longer based on what is best for the game and the playerbase. It has more to do with how much work this Dev team has to do to make it work. We all know that this game will not be fully released this year anyway so... get things right - Listen to the real issues instead of showing off arrogance and stubbornness where it really isn't needed.

Nobody asked them if they used binary search or DFS to search for items in the trade database. They’re asked questions about the core functionality that are the #1 topics being complained about on the forums. If you need to go do some deep investigation on the application you’ve spent 6 (or 15) years building to answer a question that’s about high level design of basic functionality you are incompetent
I think you vastly understimate how complex in terms of bussiness logic such a game is.
