poe2 player ego are deeply hurt , player doesn't like to be challenged because dying
" 1. Such a thing doesnt exist, its either skill issue or your monitor is not working. 2. Even if such a thing existed its irrelevant, just because theres a bad mechanic in the game that they are yet to fix doesnt mean that all forms of challenge should be removed. | |
" i understand what you mean but ggg need a way to slow down player a bit , because player will burn end game content before is official release and asking for new content 1 month after release lol ,any dev team will be able too update new content at this speed , i think this is the perfect time for the dev to testing us ,this is just common sense to me play my first rpg on the intellivision :) Chris Wilson"I want to make sure that melee classes are as good as they can be" Last edited by charley222#3935 on Jan 11, 2025, 8:34:29 AM

" I would like to hear of your exploits in poe1 doing challenging content, seeing how you have never played hc or killed any endgame boss there. It appears you are challenged by the poe1 campaign, that my 7 year old beat in ancestor league by himself. Just judging by the characters on your account of course. |

" You do realize that gaming is a hobby and most ppl simply do their hobbies to have fun - and that different people enjoy different things? Also - this seems to be more about your Ego than ebout anything else. Also 99% of games are made so that almost everyone can enjoy them and no playing certain games doesnt make you smart. Its sort of weird that some people seem to seriously get ego-boosts out of games. I also dont think that they should make this game too easy - but there are a lot of issues that should be resolved - and difficulty shouldnt feel unfair. " No, and? Go play hardcore if you want a challenge. Why aren't you playing hardcore? Afraid of a challenge? |

For challenges, there's challenges like Hardcore solo self-found that already exists.
Then there is the cheap and frustrating game design of 1 death on map, overtuned mobs, terrible terrain in maps (spider wood and augury comes to mind), class imbalance, and skill tree challenges. People act like you're going to get a real life trophy for the end of a season for playing the game. As others have said, in an ARPG put the fun in it and not just this grinding treadmill that leads to frustration. While I do like the game, the campaign was the best imo since that's likely what they worked on the most. The end-game has some good ideas but the execution isn't particularly all that great in the myriad of threads of people have already outlined. I did like the most of creating characters and running them through for the journey but the way the mapping system is set up and crafting/loot drops aren't particularly something many look forward to. Hopefully this Sunday they will tell the community what the direction is and people will either stay or go from that decision. |

" Indeed. Game being challenging is one thing, being badly design is another. The skill tree is trying to lock you in certain builds that are not always ideal or fun. Skill gems proposition doesn't always makes sense. Armour feels useless. Mechanics that punish you for not being a DPS. They told us they didn't want one dimensional build anymore, but we are forced into doing it. We can't play what we want. |

Challenging is good. This game can be challenging at times (though it rarely felt genuinely hard to me), but I don't think it's what most people complain about. Some thing may need fine tuning, but I don't think challenge is the main issue here.
Unfair is not the same as challenging. Now, this game has a lot of stuff that can feel outright unfair is many situations. Lethal on-death effects, getting corpse - exploded by a barely visible rare, running into nearly unkillable rares that cannot be parked PoE1 style due to lack of player mobility, dying due to getting stuck on minute terrain decor... there's lots of those. Obviously, a lot of those effects are also present in PoE1 and people mostly don't mind. I think the reason things are different here is because PoE2 is also punishing at endgame. Yup, PoE1 could be unfair, but it was rarely punishing. Exp loss, while kinda painful at later levels, was mostly irrelevant, as most sane builds don't require max levels anyway. But in PoE2 punishment for failure is much more severe, and it obviously causes lots of frustration if failure doesn't feel deserved. Bottom line is, I think GGG needs to decide if they want to work on getting rid of unfair effects, or make the game feel less punishing. I don't think those two work well together. |

I don't find much challenge in this game, just a lot of bullshit. After act 1 and you get a little gear and figure out a spec the game is easy. It only gets hard when they introduce maps full of death effects or off screen hits.
