You want easy fun and you think it's a problem that the game gets hard so you'll come back later?
People who want light and casual fun complete the campaign and stop there.
People (like me) who want a meaty game to sink into thats hard to complete will keep playing, even if we never reach 100.
We will all come back for next release/league/patch.
POE2 mechanics are working as intented.

You MUST be getting paid to defend the game.. you're on here in every thread doing it despite all the glaring, obvious issues, bud.
Honestly, seems more like you are being paid to badmouth the game. Why is it so hard to believe people like POE2? There are over 200k concurrent players every day since launch.
I legitimately love POE2.
1. I love the XP loss. I legitimately prefer it.
2. I don't love that Sekimas requires you to repeat all tiers every time, seems like a waste, but this trial is obviously there to have a non-death-causing challenge for Hardcore. I do the first Sekimas and then stick to Chaos, which I've had no trouble with.
3. I find POE2 endgame Atlas more enjoyable than POE1 or D4 or Last Epoch or Warframe Steel Path. Could it be better? Yes. I still love it.
4. travel mounts? Seriously?
5. respecs are damn cheap and easy.
6. campaign skipping? This is a religion, GGG is very clear they are not on your side of it. They dont plan to add campaign skipping. I think the POE2 campaign feels like it won't be as speedrunnable as POE1, but I've already been able to do follow characters is *massively* less time (~2h30m per act)
7. I'm split about the Cruel thing. If they never released updated Act 4-6 content, I wouldn't care. It's kind of refreshing to repeat the content in a harder format. This was true of Diablo 3 a decade ago as well. However, I do think they will release Act 4-6. I find the POE2 campaign massively more enjoyable than POE1 or D4.
8. I mostly play SSF, so I don't have strong opinions about trading. In my trade characters, I have given up on selling anything under 5ex because of the annoyance, so I understand people hating on it. I'd like to see either auto-trade for fixed-price items, or very streamlined trade+chat dialog that didn't require a seller to quit what they are doing to confirm a trade. However, they would need some serious bot prevention. I understand the reasons GGG is relucant to do this.
9. I don't really experience bots, because I don't buy items even in trade league. Even my trade-league characters are only there to play co-op with real life friends...not buying items, just self-found with friends and a little currency exchange.
10. I prefer the one-death maps. One of the things I most hate about POE1 is the ability to use multiple-lives during a single boss fight without a reset. I actually prefer hard mechanics. I like POE2.
It just sounds to me like you want this "hard" version of a game very few people will play.
I"m pretty sure that would eventually mean it'll shut down or just end up with the toxic playerbase POE 1 ended up with toward the end of its viability a few years ago.
Which is fine, that's your opinion.
Just understand that right now you're very much the minority.

Where is your data to back this up?
I see a decent but countable number of people posting complaints on the forums (30-100?), but the player numbers disagree.
Steam numbers are 200k+ every day, almost a month after launch, and this is probably only 1/2 of the playerbase because XboX, PS5, and standalone client are not counted.
Meanwhile indications are that D4S6 active playerbase (while bigger initially) cratered a few weeks after launch. (either because people got bored, or because they finished their paragon board)
It's impossible to know, but it seems more like the people complaining are in the minority to me.

Good f*cking god.
sorry shill…..the games trash
The player retention clearly shows differently
Uhhhhh what retention are you looking at? Everything indidicates a massive drop in players. Its oh shit this is a fire bad level of player drop. Not a single person i know has continued once they hit the endgame. All quit. Sooooooooo
I cant even logically come up with a lie to even help support your argument.
Would you like to elaborate? I am geniuely curious to hear this one.

Probably.most controversial point. You are aware nobody is asking for the 6 portals back so they can wittle down a boss. Everyone asking for 6 portals is just asking for that, 6 portals and if you do encou ter a boss it still resets (like every other boss in the game already)
There is a compromise here that doesn't change much of anything but makes it a bit more accessible to more people.

I have given up hope for PoE2.
PoE1 is the only game that will be good. I Don't foresee them making PoE2 even 1/10th as good as PoE1 within the next 5 years unless they MASSIVELY hire on an entire crew of extremely talented, skilled, and knowledgeable developers and completely rework almost the entirety of the games systems.
PoE2/10

5. respecs are damn cheap and easy. I'm glad they wised up about this. The respec cost at POE2 launch was horrible and I posted feedback for the costs to be lowered then.

With all this it sounds like you just need to go to hardcore SSF and let the suggestions of normal leagues left to the people who play them. And go to HC where there is already a 1 death system.
You are arguging a point that has literally has no weight. None of us are talking about SSF and your points proved that further. Everything you want is already in the game, youre just not doing it.
You have literally 0 relation to us and the experienes or problems we have. Go play hardcore.

Uhhhhh what retention are you looking at? Everything indidicates a massive drop in players.
This is the pattern of most every PVE game. Why do you expect differently?
On steam:
POE1 Kingsmarch:
1. launched June 2024 with 228k daily active
2. July 2024 it was down to 163k
3. September it was down to 65k
POE2:
1. Launched December 12 with 450k daily active
2. Janurary 10th it has 250k daily active
Considering that POE2 is probably played 2x more than POE1 on console, I estimate that POE2 daily playerbase is 3-4x the size of POE1. That's a big improvement.
Diablo4: steam numbers are meaningless, but the dropoff was even more extreme, dropping to 1/5th one month after D4S6.
It's not near Diablo 3/4/DI peak level, but their retention seems better than D4 so far.
From everything Jonathan from GGG says in interviews, they don't seem to be intending to make the gameplay compromises to get all the way to that level of mainstream acceptance.

Personal anecdotes are irrelevant.
I still play the endgame, there you now know 1.
200k retention (just counting steam) in an EA is pretty massive. Don't know the ggg client, consoles or epic store.
So it's safe to assume it's somewhere in the 250k-300k player range and they sold over a mil keys. Even if it's down 75% total, what's the point?
It's not a finished game, nobody expects it to garner a 50%+ retention.
Even leagues don't ever retain for the full cycle, it's understood. You play the game have fun, when your done you move on and wait for the next league.
This idea you must play 1 game for your entire life is not healthy...
