Trading... do we all really need to suffer this?

Hilariously the lead developer claimed the broken, band-aid mechanic they added to POE 1 to allow trading was MEANT to cause "friction", lol.
Correction on that. It is meant to "have friction", not cause it. By which they mean that it should be enough of a hassle that you don't want to default to trading all the time.

I'd say that's failed pretty badly in PoE2 so far. The benefits of trading far outweigh the friction.

Yes, that was their lame-duck excuse for keeping to a lazy bandaid they installed to get trade working instead of actually coding an true in-game trading function.

And then, inexplicably they ported it over into POE 2, lol.

So much of what they have done with this game is absolutely lazy content... from the flipping of the first half of the game into the second half (they did the same thing in POE 1) to one-size-fits-all "ascendancy trials" to exp penalties instead of focusing on content being WORTH leveling through.

It's kind of a mess.

You're misrepresenting my opinion if you're referring to me.

Nah I wasn't referring to you. I was mostly talking to the chad on page 2 or 3 who clapped back with "We don't need boost? Who is we? You don't speak for us all" and thinks SSF should be its own super special carebear mode.

They could easily implement an auto-trade by just letting clicking the button on the website do an exchange of a fixed price item for it's cost.

They pretty obviously don't want to do this, becuase they don't want an auction hosue where people can sell items without being online and involved in the exchange.

I think this is a mistake for a game that is supposed to be "more mainstream", but i don't think its an accident.

I think best way to stay true to their goal but make trading less of an absolute PITA, is to make it so trade can be done with a Pause-and-dialog system, where the player does not need to be physically in the same zone to trade, and the seller does not need to stop what they are doing and go to their stash.

1. I get trade request notifiction and button
2. I calm down action in my map, click the "pause and trade" button
3. Trade and chat window appears that auto-includes the item in my side of the sell window... (buyer has to be at stash to trade)
4. We complete trade, their purchase price is auto-placed into the bank slot the item came from (NOT my inventory)
5. I unpause and go back to my mapping without burning a portal or wasting time because the game crashes when I'm porting to another player (becuase I use my guild hideout, which he cant port to)

..or they could skip all this and just let fixed-price (and possibly <10ex) trades go through automatically, and save the in-person stuff for valuable negotations.

Yes, they pretty-obviously don't want to spend the time coding an AH, correct.

Was that not obvious? I feel like it was pretty obviously the reason they haven't done it.

Just like how they go with lazy content for ascendancy trials when they should be customized to the ascendancy to test the strenths and weaknesses of that class/ascendancy choice rather than just an hours-long, RNG influenced set of maps that have nothing to do with anything.

The amount of people wanting easy-mode and think SSF should be a boosted game mode are completely out of touch. Do you want GGG to add a feature where if you fail a boss three times, you get a free upgrade to your gear to help you out? Would you like a free boss-skip token? How about a vendor that sells you gear specifically tailored to your build?

You play SSF by your own choice. You know what you're getting into when you create those characters. Yes, I agree that deterministic crafting options should be added in the game and loot needs to be refined, but not just for SSF. For the entire game across all modes.

The literal only difference between standard/trade and SSF is you don't have to suffer through this game's shoddy trade economy. For the love of God stop saying SSF needs to be its own super special game mode that holds your hand because "the game isn't tailored for the mode I'm playing".

Why does trade have to be the only way to get faster progression? Why does SSF has to be harder? Have you tried LE? Why not give SSF more tools to progress AND make a "ruthless" mode for people who want the extra challenge?
No, you can just quit like I do every time.

Forced to interact with the trade system = I'm playing another game.
I'd prefer if trading was removed completely, and currency would drop a lot more so you can craft your own items. MF needs to go too, otherwise it's a necessary stat (even more than it is now)
