It's 2025, and XP Penalties on Death Still Exist?

PoE 1 became a successful game despite the exp loss, not because of it.

Source? Metrics? Data? And I swear if you point to the 200 people on the forum...and call that a majority...whew.

It having this mechanic is just a funny little coincidence.

Source: Trust me bro. Look up correlation and causation - works both ways.

Toforto#2372 wrote:

Almost all the Softcore players hate this mechanic, the devs just decided to leave it in the game for no reason.

Source and source? Almost all? No reason? Go on.

If we were given the option to turn it off in the settings, 99% of people would. This alone is proof that its bad game design lmao

"My made up statistic is proof of bad game design."

My dude, you've said a half dozen things, with wild outlandish claims, zero backing it up. Go touch grass.

And I'll let the consistantly solid playerbase over a decade go ahead and fight my side of the argument.

Nope, we the players will keep giving feedback during EA because this is the best time for it. And its a time when big changes can happen in a game, it's time for GGG to move on and drop these ancient mechanics that were supposed to be left forgotten 20 years ago.

Man if you ask a kid "what you want to eat", the dumb creature will get a WATER BUCKET full of chocolate ice cream.

Why? Because it doesn't know what is good for it.

The idea of eating healthy food is simple, but its brain is not developed enough to apply logic, and it lacks the knowledge to understand this idea.

This is why parents do not really let their kids get "A WATER BUCKET OF CHOCOLATE ICECREAM".

Do you see where I am getting with this?
"

Agreed and hopefully it stays

No need to hope.

This will never go.
Exp loss is bad for the game and it only exists to annoy players and waste their time, no other purpose. This is an objective fact.

So deleting it would only improve the game, this is an objective fact.

And if they triple-down on "The Vision" this game is just gonna die in obscurity and have Ruthless player numbers, because its not fun and people don't want to play unfun games. It's that simple.

I love how everyone telling you they won't remove it has played PoE1 for years, bought stuff in the shops, fully accepted it as part of the game.

And along you come, saying "It's gonna have to (change)..."

Sounds like you'd be happy playing Path of Exile.

This is a different game, with a different design philosophy.

Player skill should matter. The XP penalty makes players risk-averse and prevents the devs from designing challenging content.

Well that's hilariously disingenuous bullshit. They never said the exp penalty was going away. Just because their design philosophy is "different" doesn't mean you get to inject whatever selfish little wants you have into it.

Player skill should matter? I don't know what you think you're saying, but...pretty sure if my wife played my Monk she'd die a lot more than me...because I've played him before...

Skill is the effect of time spent practicing. If you're talking about some sort of inherent skill, like "I'm a born god gamer" type skill, then holy jesus please f off back to Reddit.

Not an objective fact

Games not gonna die

Go play something else if you have these strong of feelings

I told you , son.
Main purpose is to lock getting to 100 by throwing your body again and again.

This wont go. Stop talking.

Another topic about this? Absolutely! I want this game to thrive, but it’s losing players because GGG is stuck in the past.

This is a great opportunity to attract players from competing games. If you insist on keeping XP penalties, make it optional or limit the loss to the XP gained in the current map. Simple and effective!

I quit both POE1 and POE2 because of this. I really want to come back to POE2.

XP loss on death isn't going anywhere. Guaranteed. Y'all should move on from the topic.

Look dude, I'm gunna keep saying "source" to your crazy bullshit claims until you come up with one or shut up.

Also, if every setback in a game is just to "annoy players and waste their time" then that's literally video games and you should stop playing. It's FRICTION and it's the reason games WORK.

We'll never know the true numbers unless GGG releases them, but it's probably closer to 1 million.
