The Amount of Time "Vacationing" is Actually Absurd

Is it standard practice in NZ to just entirely shut down a company for vacation? We close on holidays and other than that we stagger time off throughout the year to not disrupt operations.

Two weeks off after Christmas is pretty normal in Australia & NZ.

Christmas is essentially US thanksgiving + christmas combined, and in the middle of summer. Outside vacation areas, even non-chain takeaway food tends to shut down - if you need services from any other business then your odds are pretty 50/50.

A minimum of four weeks yearly vacation is the law in NZ, and it's normal to take some over Christmas-New Years when your business can't get much work done anyway.

I understand how that's weird in US terms, but I don't think it's news to anyone that the US often has what other western countries regard as an unhealthy work/life balance.

Pushing back the initial early access launch basically killed those couple of extra weeks of reactive development opportunity.

I would expect that GGG is actually likely to cut their holidays somewhat short by NZ standards. They clearly pushed to get extra done before leaving the office.

My child has a broken leg, sorry mam we are on vacation hahaha come in a week after christmas hahaha

You can get standard emergency treatment & most multi-doctor practices will have a (generally the most junior) doctor on practice, but my GP is absolutely away on holidays over Christmas-New Years.

You think doctors don't have holidays too?

Anyone working at this time of year is either very low in the pecking order or getting rewarded in some way.

While i dont agree with a lot of things here. It is odd that its framed this way.
Most companies take 24th-25th off and are back to work the 26th.

I don't know if I've ever worked for a company that allowed you to take vacation 2 weeks within a major holiday either. Maybe we're just slave drivers in America.

That being said a few weeks off for them, while it may suck for us, is not the end of the world.

Yes, you are just slave drivers in America. It's very common in many other countries for things to basically shut down the last two weeks of the year.

It's a strange concept where people don't live to work.

Maybe in you fantasy world you can stop a country for 2 weeks just because you are not a slave hahahah

How old are you, kid?
I am not well versed enough on labour laws in other countries.

Where I am from, there are some MNC or companies owned by christians that has the rest of the weeks off. i.e 24th off work until 1st Jan. Back to work on 2nd Jan. Not required by law but some companies do that. Some only do it on the executive level, the grunts may still go back to work.

I mean even if they are taking the week off, why not?

I am not happy with the controls, the one shot mechanics, the constant crashing when I am switching to my big tv, the bloody big tedious campaign maps with no bloody movement skill...

but hey, we are all humans. Live and let live. Come back 2nd January onwards and wait for updates. Let them spend their time with their families. 2nd Jan is a very fair date for the holiday season. FFS, this is not emergency services

I can tell many of the comments here are kids with no family. I am sorry it's hard for you guys to understand what does spending time with your family during the holiday season means. I am sorry you probably only revolve around your PC/Console right now
Rarely have i ever read a more entitled bullcrap post as the one from the OP.

This game is still in early access, like it or not. There are developers out there who throw out EA games and dont publish updates in months.

And this game is bad? Steam Ratings beg to differ. You are such an entitled little.... i better not use that word here. Oh, and how come you have so much time to play? Maybe enjoying your...i dont know....holidays?

#1 You're overestimating the amount of people who watch streamers by a full two decimal places

#2 No, they did not give out "tens or hundreds of thousands of codes". How would Streamer, playing the game, actively authenticate via email sending all those codes... while they played? Copy/paste dumps in chat? Have you any idea just how many times they'd have to copy / paste to even get 5,000 free codes given out?

#3 Go look in the bug forums for posts about people "suddenly losing access to the EA". These are people who bought via Greymarket third party sites. If you're wondering who did buy bulk "tens or hundreds of thousands of codes" it was these outfits. Which are being currently recinded if fraudulent.

Anyhow. Thank you for reminding me that the wild wild west of Forums still exist and they are dumb as ever.

Pretty much. My Christmas holiday was from December 20th to January 6th. I'm not allowed back to work until then. Did I mention that I have 5 weeks of summer vacation too, that I HAVE to use? I even have a week off in the winter, easter and fall too.

Sucks being European, I guess.

For sure you dont work for private account lol

How dare these fellows who run their own business maintain a healthy work life balance while the rest of us require higher quality entertainment.

Harumf I say, can I get a harumf! I better get a harumf out of all you guys!
It's not unreasonable to expect work on he 27th but it would likely be only a part for back end business, emergency hotfix and work from home stuff if servers go down or something similar. Basically keeping the lights on, not everyone has a lot of plans post christmas.
The full team will be back next year, and it's better that way since a lot of things need to be done and I'd rather they come back from a vacation rather than being stressed out after the obvious crunch that is endgame content.
