GGG desperately trying to reinvent the wheel and ending up with a square.

I dont want to wait 6 years for GGG to learn thier lesson. I want the game I payed for NOW.

Yep, that's exactly why so many people are disappointed now. The community basically got scammed and given Ruthless 2.0 not PoE 2.
In the current state of EAPOE2, I would say that GGG tried to reinvent POE and ended up with a worse version of Grim Dawn...

It can still become the best ARPG ever made, though.
POE1 is not dead
The most disappointing thing about PoE 2, is that GGG went out of their way to make a lot of things unnecessarily inconvenient. The gigantic zones/maps? Inconvenient without any reasons. The layout of those zones/maps? Inconvenient without any reasons. One portal maps? Inconvenient. The well? Inconvenient. The towers? Inconvenient.

I can like the slower pace of the acts. And I'm actually one of those that thinks making the game faster as we go through it, and making the endgame closer to PoE 1 in terms of pace is a good idea. It's just a logical part of progression and power fantasy; you actually FEEL your character getting stronger and better. What is the alternative here? Well, that your character feels just as crap in maps as it was in the acts, which would be BAD.

I think PoE 2 has enough going for it to become a good game. But right now? It's very lacking in every department.

A what if: What if they added six new classes, 18 new ascendancies and PoE 2 graphics to PoE 1. How many players would remain in PoE 2 because of its "superior mechanics"?

Who cares about graphic at endgame if you have to look at overlay 24/7 to navigate.

As for leagues, I might or might not play them. Fucking hate the concept of locking content behind new characters, but if the new content is decent enough I might play em anyway.

So, PoE 2... A game centered around something you "fucking hate". You seem to hate the concept of leagues and maybe every single mechanic that adds to the longevity of a game. To me, it very much seems like you won't be here in 2-3 years, which makes your feedback irrelevant. At least to me :)

just another reminder that people who enjoy the game aren't here arguing and pushing back 24/7 so this forum is just becoming a negative circle jerk like the POE1 reddit became.

I hate to think of the selection bias effect these threads have.

So many people who clearly want Diablo 4 or POE1 who are instead here complaining that POE2 isn't enough like the game they actually should be playing.
Pandering to players who don't want consequences for their mistakes is a perfect description of what went fundamentally wrong with D3 and 4.
If they wanted mindless mobile game time waster gameplay they sure did make some perplexing choices and marketing statements for 6 fucking years.

100% agree. This is a game the fans didn't want. We wanted a BETTER PoE1. Not whatever this thing is.

PoE 2 was never marketed about being a PoE 1 HD Remake . They always said they were going a different route with the new installment . Get a grip .

Wrong, it was originally revealed as a 4.0 expansion to PoE 1 during Exilecon 2019. The plan for the 2 games to be seperate was only made official recently. People feel scammed and betrayed, rightfully so.

If you did even a bit of research, you'd know this.

Yeah this was the original goal back from 2019 (1st exilecon).
-two stories but same endgame was the headline but with improved graphics / reworked skill gem system / and new + updated boss encounters.

I can't speak for everyone but for myself but i would not have minded if they drastically slowed down the OG game (if POE2 still being big 4.0 expansion ) but tried to improve on the flaws/clutter accumulated over the last decade and doing a soft restart with lessons learned like better visual clarity / good boss enounters with good telegraphs(on top of good audio visual quality) and improved endgame based on the OG atlas.

But guess that's not realistic to have it work and being accepted by majority of (paying) players so the went they safe route with a separate PoE instead and have a fallback if one game does not well as expected long term.
Masterpiece of 3.16 lore
"A mysterious figure appears out of nowhere, trying to escape from something you can't see. She hands you a rusty-looking device called the Blood Crucible and urges you to implant it into your body."

Only usable with Ethanol Flasks

Honestly I have a pet theory that these kinds of players on average mostly don't last much longer than 5 or 6 months. People who can clear speed for 2 months per league and come back year after year are way rare. People who are just touched enough to keep doing something so trivial and mindless over actual years are rare.

Back in POE1's middle years when the whole "clear speed meta should be nerfed" debate was raging (and being lost by the people who wanted POE1 to be a good game instead of the dumb cookie clicker it became) I noticed that clear speed defenders are always short term, instant gratification type players who rarely are around very long. Almost none of the clear speed people from back then still post on the forums. They get replaced by more people who aren't burnt out on 1 button loot dumpster gameplay yet and think such gameplay is required for a game to be fun.

They also tend to play leagues for less time and get bored much quicker. Grimro is my favorite example, he was a 2-3 week guy and now doesn't even play the game anymore. I think he might be typical.

I feel like this is the clear speed meta wars all over again.

I'm a clearspeed meta enjoyer and I'm here to tell you that this is the only thing that makes the game fun for me. I spent money only on the stash tabs I need and then I have played almost every league since Essence(skipped betrayal, delve and synthesis)and I keep coming back league after league even if I complete all my goals by week 2.

Yes instant gratification is fun, yes I enjoy farming the same favorited t16 map over and over and over with the exact same scarabs, atlas tree and layout. Clicking the same mechanics, playing the same 1-button right click to win build that trivializes all content in the game every league.
That is my definition of fun in a game, being OP and getting cool rewards. The only reason I even go for Challenge completion in leagues is cus of the free mtx rewards like Portals and whole armor sets. And then when I'm 40/40 I either quit or play for a bit more just to share challenge completions for free with players.

I almost never make a 2nd character cus its either too expensive to make an actual good build(nimis and mageblood required and those are 400+ divines alone lmao) and also campaign is a snoozefest even with full twink gear leveling taking me 4 hours 30 mins to complete. It's still too much of a chore. Now imagine how much of a chore people will think PoE 2's campaign is when it releases loooool
