Map Sustain

"
Why am I getting Tier 5 maps drops in a Tier 15 map. You can't sit there as a developer during an interview and say map sustain is puzzling to you because it took you 30 maps to get to 15 or whatever it was, when the game consistently, even with all the nodes that gives chances at higher tier maps, as well as increased map drops results in low tier maps dropping all the time. How am I supposed to sustain maps on that. It's not because of deaths and running out, it's because the system keeps giving me nonsense low tier maps that I get nothing out of. I don't get EXP. I don't get good drops. It's stupid.

I agree with you fully. The strangest part is you can have days where the drop rate is proper and then the next will set you back just for playing. No deaths and you can focus on bosses yet receive nothing or one lower tier waystone.

There is a serious bug and I suspect its impacting all loot drops right now. The only other possible thing I can think of is that it uses a group drop rate based on all players online. If the market is saturated, they stop dropping specific items. D3 did this exact algo for their auction house and it killed the game until they removed auction house and redid all of the loot drops.

Why in the world do we have all of these rares and uniques that are so bad that you may as well just leave them on the ground. It is more exciting to get a waystone so that you can play versus a unique item you are supposed to be grinding for.

Get this nonsense - it feels like tier of maps is tied to % Magic Find as well. Before I had ANY MF gear on, I specced the Atlas to get as many map drops as possible, with limited success.

I 'upgraded' to 75%ish MF and now I'm getting at least 1 T15 map in addition to all the smaller map drops too.

If this is how it actually functions, and not a string of variance on my end (doubtful, it's been consistent every map ever since I did the switch) then Magic Find is truly the biggest blight possible on the game and now a mandatory item stat to do any meaningful progression at all.

Brother, magic find has very little contribution to waystone drops compared to just adding suffixes to the map and juicing the waystone drop chance to 300%. I have 40% rarity on my gear and constantly max out t15 maps and I constantly get 5-8 T15 maps per run

I do have to agree with others in that why am I getting t4 drops in a t15 map. It seems like there is a max tier that can drop but not a min tier. I'm not getting t15 maps running a t8 so it seems like its possible for them to set a minimal range if there is a maximum range while progressing to max tiers

You are correct, there is a cap to what tier can drop (based off the tier you are in) but there is no floor. Those lower level drops are not entirely useless, and can easily be filtered off if you don't see a need for them.

There is zero reason to not drop lower level ones, and even if GGG removed the ability to drop lower tiers it would NOT change anything about what you are dropping now. You would still drop the same number of tier X maps, you just wouldn't drop lower level ones (just like using your filter would do).

People saying map sustain is fine is running OP meta builds on ultra-juiced content. Of course they are swimming in loot.

They wouldn't last 5 minutes on a "normal" build...

hmm okay :d
Since I have been tracking maps lately (starting just after T9+ quest) here are my results. The first entry is the map tier and after are the results. All are full clears unless I died

9 - 1,2,3,5,7,10,10,10 - good start, lots of drops things look good
9 - 5,6,8,9,tablet - ok, again lots of low maps but at least I got one at the level I need
9 - 10 thats it but at least it's still 9 or higher
9 - 5,9,tablet
9 - none - this was a new tower map and already have a ticket wondering if bug
9 - 3 - things are starting to look bad
9 - none - another tower map though so see previous

At this time I had enough 9s done to start doing 10T quest
10 - 6 and died
10 - 2,5,11 at least got one
10 - 6,8,9,10, died
10 - 10, died
10 - 7,9,9,2 tablets
10 - 10,11, tablet

So for me the substainability is real tights and made worse from my 3 deaths which were all from vaal factory but needed to do it as it was the only path forward due to a citadel blocking me.

Looking at the percentage drops and assumming anything less than -1 below current is useless I get 15 bad drops and 15 good drops. So I will leave it up to everyone here to think on whether 50% usable is a good measure. Also on the flip side, of 13 maps done getting 15 good waystones would be an over 100% growth.
