Map Sustain

"
Set up your atlas passives properly and this is a NON issue.

It's not that hard to figure out what atlas passives are going to help you sustain waystones

False. I had every +% waystone and almost every %rarity and %quantity node in the passive atlas tree. And I only got about 4-5 T15 maps from... about twelve T15 maps (about 8 of them, fully cleared).

The last straw before I decided to quit playing was a +605% waystones T15 map. Though I died at the middle of the map, I only got a T10 map. Just before that, I ran another T15 in a unique map (Atziri's vault or whatever its name is in POE2) and the best I got was a T12 stone.

I don't know if it is because my lack of MF gear, because my minions or explosion don't produce drop... I don't know. But I can't sustain T15 maps

It feels extremely frustrating, since I spent much time and many exalteds (purchasing and upgrading T15 stones) just for nothing.

This should be addressed as soon as possible because, at least in my case, this made the game unplayable (literally).
For high-tier map sustain I'd recommend one or more of:

1. (Much?) Higher percentage of maps with map-bosses in them.

2. Allow for earlier and deterministically finding your first "boss" fights. As one of the rewards from those quest boss types allow us to optionally "plug in" the reward key so we do NOT get map drops from low tier maps. The more of these rewards you plug in the more low-map-drops you exclude from the drop pool.

3. Skew drops heavily towards the tiers +/- two tiers from the tier of the map you're currently running.

That guy's a troll. Ignore him.

Map sustain is indeed really, really rough - especially at the start. It gets more 'tolerable' once you start maxing out your Atlas tree and invest in rarity/quantity/waystone drops. But 'tolerable' is about the best I'll describe it. Sometimes you'll get 2-3 T15s in an unjuiced T15, and sometimes you'll just get none at all in a 450%+ Irradiated map. Bosses almost always drop a map at your tier, but bosses are pretty scarce.

And if you lose the map to bad affixes? You'd better hope the few other T15s that dropped don't brick, or there goes several hours of sustain. That, or you sell them to recoup some of your EX and buy new T15s. It ain't great.

There is zero issues with sustain, it's a skill issue.

If sustain was so bad, how is it people are bulk selling maps? If sustain was an issue EVERYONE would be having that problem.
map sustain is fine, has nothing to do with rarity. sitting on a stash full of 14s and 15s and already vendoring them if i dont like the mods. just killing bosses alone is sustain enough

Killing bosses is indeed the best way to sustain maps. I personally sustain maps just fine with a non-meta build (phys monk) if enough bosses are in range, though getting dry spells without any nearby bosses hurts a little more. I'm not swimming in maps, admittedly.

The part that bothers me more is that

1. Early sustain is super rough
2. Big waystone drop percentages imply that the map should shower you in waystones, except it doesn't. Not that it should, but big percentage usually implies big rewards, and new players who see a map with 400% waystone drop chance usually expect to see a positive return on their investment.

A lot of the players in this thread seem to be around T10 maps or so. It's a huge turn-off if they feel like they can't progress, even when playing clean. Players should feel like they're being rewarded for playing correctly (in this case, investing in map droprates and item rarity on their Atlas) - but many feel like they're not being rewarded. If the answer is "run Spark Sorc," then that speaks more to poor class balance than anything.

I don't know, why don't you tell the class?

AM I A TROLL???? I have a lvl 88 necromancer. 2200 HP and 3550 ES (7110 with remnants). Elemental resistances are capped and Chaos is about 35-40% so I only die in T15 maps if I commit a very bad move

This was my last map. Did I say 605% waystones? Sorry it was 643. I only got a T10 map and a regal shard before dying.

And this is a screenshot of the stone citadel.
Spoiler
At the bottom you can verify there is a Kamasa map. Since it is a bonus bap and you can't die, you might expect better loot. But it is not the case

No no no, I agree with you. I was talking about RKxZlcLUUF#5704. He goes from thread to thread shutting down criticism without providing any evidence of his own.

This. I swear the forum trolls who hop from thread to thread, shutting down criticism, are carrying water for market fixers and RMT bots. Why be a stooge? How does it help the game?
