Really disappointed with the direction you are taking the game (making it easier)
For the last 5 years all I've heard is that you want to create an elden ring style ARPG with challenging content and gameplay, within two weeks you've made multiple huge knee jerk changes which are completely going against that vision and those principles.
What are you doing? There is a large majority of people who want challenging content and are enjoying it yet you are listening to a vocal crying minority plaguing reddit and the PoE forums. Please stop catering to these people and don't make PoE2 a reskinned PoE1 zooming around all over the place one shotting all content in the game. GGG is facing a major dilemma:
- Make the game easier to attract a larger audience and cater to fast dopamine-driven players (the big money route). - Keep it hard and challenging, standing out from other ARPGs, but risk lower profits and a smaller player base. PoE nowadays looks more and more like a fork server with tons of custom weird experimental stuff rather than original game with carefully thought out balance brough live to players. At least from their announcement, the only stage of the game they're seeming to want to make a bit easier is end game mapping (less resistance penalties for higher map tiers, less chaos damage, and nerfing a rare mob modifier that was an outlier in how deadly it was), and making the Trial a bit more forgiving for melee.
So its not nerfing Radagon one week in because people complained nerfs, just the biggest barrier to people ascending in Act 2 (and that was quite difficult for warriors, less so monks), and stuff that only affects the highest tiers of players. |

What changes specifically do you think are making the game too easy, OP?

You must be trolling
Or did you think it was fine for the poison traps in sanctum to one shot from full honour? That visually indistinct on death and massive ground spread effects were doing far too much damage? That the third charm slot was unobtainium before T15 drops or mirrors on trade? Like your fellow travelers keep telling everyone, this is early access and they are balancing based on feedback and more than likely their own internal metrics on outliers - just going on about how they're 'making the game easier' is an insult to the work they are putting in to improve the game experience. |

Nerfing sanctum even though it was completely fine. Halving respec costs, Removing -res from maps, reducing monster damage, removing volatile crystals. These are all things that 'speed up' the game in various different ways and essentially is the start of turning PoE2 into PoE1 already and we are 2 weeks into EA.
Halving respec costs means you lose any sense of character permanency, most ppl are just going to be in a cycle now of rerolling to whatever the most meta streamer build is over and over each time changes happen. The point of mods like volatile crystals is that it makes you actually have to stop and think about gameplay, that's what all on death affects are doing. These things are important to the flow of the game if you remove them it becomes mindless zooming with very little engaging meaningful combat outside of bosses. GGG - please stop. Making the game easier and zoomy is not what the majority of people want, we do not want a reskinned PoE1 when we still have PoE1 there to play. |

If the people giving valid feedback are such a "vocal minority" then why is it that they're everywhere? Why is reddit full of that kind of feedback, why are 90% of the threads on this feedback forum criticizing the game then? Maybe it's not such a small % of the playerbase after all.
It's a good thing GGG are listening. |

There is nerfing, and there is unintended interactions.
I'm firmly in the 'want a challenge' camp but the vast majority of these are not diluting the challenge of the game. Last edited by pixxpixx#4258 on Dec 16, 2024, 7:23:19 PM
