I've seen late 30s early 40s complaining a lot about how they just blew all their resources making their "cast on X" build even better. And many just saw a good skill and used it in some fashion, not copying some youtube video.
Anyways, obviously the folks making this change didn't try playing with the skills they changed or they would know this change literally makes the skills useless. Needing to trigger energy gain 5-30 times more than pre-patch is a crazy nerf.
I can promise you that they don't want automated build archetypes, anything that could remotely be considered an, "auto-bomber" or "looping" based build that exist in PoE1. It's antithetical to the core game design. Of having to actually play the video game.
So yes, the interaction/archetype doesn't work at all. Pretty sure that's intended.
Meta gems are there for minor automation interactions, or supplementary effects that are only needed every few packs. Something along those lines anyway.
I could accept this but GGG finished the thought process a bit to early and in typical PoE1 manner:
You hit once hard, kill the whole thing and don't actually balance it out. Right now EI and every Cast on skill is completely worthless and even in your ways of intention way to expensive. I don't think anybody would see a reasonable way of spending 60 Spirit still on any of those skills.
So missing items is still:
1. Respec
2. Adjusting those skills to like 20 or 30 Spirit to at least make it considerable for anyone to use, otherwise don't implement them

How about you roll a new character. They don't need everyone just playing around in maps trying to copy the most recent thing they saw on YouTube.
Being allergic to campaign is a PoE1 symptom. Let's not have it develop in PoE2 as well.
I'm not "allergic", this is my 3rd character in PoE 2. However, I don't wanna feel forced to play another character or build every 2 or 3 days just because GGG decided to nuke something without providing a free respec.
Also, be nicer. We're all just trying to have a good time and provide feedback.
I apologize. I admit to getting riled up about certain people's entitled attitudes when we should be trying to make the best game possible for as many people as possible. I have trouble parsing people who are complaining with legitimate feedback and people who are complaining for the sake of it. That's on me.
I think that providing free respecs to literally everyone would cut into their generation of feedback on the actual passive pathing/respec system, and that selectively giving out respecs based on what happened in patch notes could leave a sour taste in other testers' mouths for the same reason that everyone is asking for a free respec now. The system is designed around being rather committal, as we can see with them potentially never intending to implement a way to swap ascendancies.

Cast on minion death and cast on freeze I would argue do not fall into the category of useless even now, but I will say that GGG is likely to keep adjusting from where things are now. They likely just want to make sure that any sort of fully automated archetype using meta gems is fully dead. Invoker existing likely makes the gems look extra bad also. Clearly needs more work but I think they probably just don't want to have to deal with anything remotely like an autobomber, and I was surprised at the state that meta-gems launched in. Seemed pretty inevitable something like what we saw would be created rather quickly. Maybe meta gems were hot off the presses and they didn't have time to test them thoroughly for broken interactions. Not sure.

The patch to Trigger gems were MASSIVE. I spent the last couple days playing a Invoker and now it is absolutely dead. Not 30%-ish nerfed or something, it's just dead.
I could respec my entire tree, but gold right now is very scarce and ironically I got my character bricked, so I can't use it to farm gold to respec...
Early Access is 100% the moment where such changes need to happen fast, but your players are human beings with limited time, so either give them a free respec, reduce respec prices or something else, but please don't just kill builds and let players "pay the price".
Respect your time? It's a video game and it literally just launched on early access. Just roll another character. Who cares??

based on this, why even adding those gems into the game?
Useless is also rather i term used compared to cost (60 spirit) compared to other things you could use instead of this now. It's like the old days.. playing Reave... and at some moment, skills get nerfed / forgotten / others introduced :D

Yeah, if a free respec is not what they want that's totally fine, they just need to find another solution. It's just that the current situation is not acceptable.
