Cast on freeze nerf and overall thoughts so far.
It is not as bad as it seems. We all have a lot of +cold dmg, so just turn off CoF, enable artic shield and you can still cast frostbolts, frost bombs + comet and it's working fine.

Instead of cast of freezse triggering upon freezing enemies, it should trigger on freeze build up. The higher the buildup, the higher the energy.
This way it is consistent both against bosses and normal monsters. As it stands now it became pretty useless. It's nice addition, but not reliable. P.S. You should remove gold cost on respeccing if you keep hitting us with hotfixes everyday. RIP all my gold and now I'm stuck with a build not working. |

Just got comet yesterday, and today the cof is useless. At least i got 2 hours of it. They should include some free respec points as i'm not swimming in gold.

I'm in the same mood as you. Krip wrote it's like poe1 ruthless mode. I fully agree and don't like it. I quit this game. Too much struggling. No fun. I'll keep to poe1 unless they adopt a different philosophy.

So i have a week off work. Spend literally 50% of my hours online, reading, researching, then building towards a goal. Spend all my resources etc getting there.
Feel great when i get there and finally powerful, just for them to take it all away. No respec anything. So now im stuck, with a high level gimp character. I dont have endless days off work to re-research and grind another tree for them to nerf. I felt the build was fairly balanced. Great against big packs - huge glass cannon, but not so great against bosses. Now its useless and they might aswell have just deleted the spell Is this how they run a game?? I only played poe1 minimal so i dont know their intentions. But if this is it, then its going to be a hard pass from me. |

I made a own topic for this, but here's my idea how to fix it and make it reliable:
I suggest you'd change it to gather energy on freeze buildup instead of actual freeze. The higher your buildup is and more HP a mob has, the more energy it gets. Then scale it so it is realiable so that it can trigger multiple times against bosses before freezing it and reliably against groups of mobs. Upon hitting the "freeze" stage it could get large energy boost as well. Maybe something like this: Hitting a mob with any cold skill gives base 10 energy. Depending of your freeze build up you get a multiplier X. Depending of your damage you get a multiplier of X, which can be below 1 (to prevent using level 1 skills) Depending of monster HP you get a multiplier X Upon freezing an enemy gain x2. Now just scale the multipliers so it's reliable at all situations. Not swarming down hundreds of comets, but constantly throwing one or two. |

I leveled up with cast on freeze. It was honestly a painful build to play but effective enough.
I used all my $180K gold to respec into spark and it just flat out sucks. Although I have absolute trash gear but can't really do anything now. I wish they would let us console peasants play SSF because now I just want to start over but am waiting for being allowed to join SSF first. I'm not really enjoying myself with this game atm. Extremely frustrating mechanics, always out of mana despite having a 1000 mana and heavily invested in mana regen and my build that was just ok got nerfed to the ground. The nerf ruins my enjoyment of the game. Build feels useless now. It's a shame about the time spent.

What GGG hasn't figured out is that this no longer only affects the gameplay itself, but also affects what kind of expectations players should have for in the future. The current logic is that a gameplay that players have worked hard and invested a lot of time and energy to obtain is easily taken away by an official but sudden hotfix. So, what good expectations can players have? According to this logic, the most reasonable response for players at present is not to play anymore. Please have someone in your balance team understand the theory of loss aversion psychology

" completely agree. Its my first experience of this company and this doesnt look good. All this time spent completely wasted. They want us to invest time into the huge skill tree and spell/support synergies but then just *delete* ones they dont like. Do i research a new build and spend all my time / resources on that? No, because they might do the same again. Ive completely put everything into cof build. Orbs / gold / gear / spells / supports. All of it used toward this build, and im left with nothing. |
