Cast on freeze nerf and overall thoughts so far.

Started with Minions, rerolled to Storm weaver CoF. Now quit.
The nerfs were too severe and the rerolling cost prohibitive.
Now I am afraid of starting a new vhar with a strong build, since it might be gone in an instant, after it was singled out as THE worst thing ever.
I don't know, just now PoE2 is just not my wheelhouse.
Probably will return once the early stage nerfs, buffs, re-nerfs are out of the way.
And it is too sweaty for my taste.
PoE1 still exists and I will just focus on that one.

Just started playing & I have to agree here, as someone starting out to find out there was a nerf that fundamentally changed gameplay with no free respec or anything, makes me very nervous to buy anything extra for the game until theres stability from the game developers.

You lose out on money by worrying the community this way.

Yah, been a long time supporter of the game and was about to buy more supporter pack till this nerf.

I wonder if the management of the company changed and they are becoming victims of their success. Sadly, they are not prioritizing customer experience at all in any shape or form here and are starting to do things the "apple" and "sony" way. We tell you whats fair and you take it.

Thats how you lose loyalty.
I understand you make adjustment for fair balance game but for soccerer like me it just not fair at all . You could at least do minor adjustment but nowhere near work at all now . For people who have to work my ass especially in asean country , my time spend on gaming are limited , when finally i was able to getting the hang of it and start enjoying the games it get hard x nerfed . This is very dissapointing .

This is exactly happened in diablo 4 necromancer bone build with end game powerful critital bone build and when i was start having fun with the game the next day my char is totally trashed , i drop the game after few days of strugling to rebuild , i brag to my friend POE is the real arpg games compare to monopolizing diablo blizzard .

I played POE1 and i have a lot of fun , they dont do major nerf overnight . It's like a bad dream , when u wake up the next day ur char is trashed real good but unfortunately it happened just like diablo 4. I don't feel gamer world anymore . Very distrustful , now i felt the trauma whenever the character is good , its not gonna stay long .

I'm find this so dissapointing and being cheated . You pay u suffer . Its so stressful to find a good games anymore . All the work , time , mental and study goes into drain .

I agree that this could have been more thought through before just changing it like this. The build does still work "technically", but nowhere near as well and the power fantasy is gone. I swapped to a different build because cold by itself is no good. If you wanted players to use multiple damage types to achieve decent damage, then at least say that.

I spent over 60 levels specking into cold even before I knew about Cast on Freeze and it was not good. There should be more incentives for going with only one element if that is what the player chooses.

Strop nerfing player power. Its early access for goodness sakes. Don't you want the players to have fun and keep playing? What are you doing?
I let a couple days go by to settle my thoughts and they're still mostly what I felt after the patch. I'm confused and frustrated by the sudden change to the point that I'm just going to wait until release or leagues after.

I'm confused what the developers want me to do build wise. Cast on freeze with ice comet felt so obvious that I can not believe the developers did not have it as the expected new player build path. I looked at no forums or streamers and with my smooth brain I still felt mildly insulted the developers didn't trust me to figure it out myself was the skill pair so obvious.

Why should I try a different build when this one felt so intended? Do I want to spend more hours respeccing just for another build to be disabled or caught in the crossfire? What is expected and allowed when I now look at forums and see builds 10x or more power than mine as people enter T1 maps?

Campaign was a blast and I got my money out of this but I have zero desire to play again until release and even then I might let things settle out further for a few leagues. There's so many other things I can do with that time instead which is a bit sad for what was otherwise a great experience that I was hoping to continue.

What i am not really following about respect cost, it is how it seems so prohibitive for some people, money is flowing as soon as you reach map T1, i don't even know what to do with it, i could respect 2 times if i wanted to.

For the nerfs part, i am all for it, i hope they nerf anything broken as soon as they find it even if it hurts some people build, we are in EA for a reason and the last thing the game needs is a D4 situation with completely broken build ruining any activities or the economy.

The health of a game like this is based on proper balancing.

Will be more weapon, classes and ascendancies soon (more skills as well) so they have to be drastic and quick.

If you have 200k gold and it cost 500k gold to respec.
How are you supposed to farm these 300k gold without a working build do you think?

Powerful does not mean broken. It means powerful. If it was not damaging the game on the backend as in the D4 builds they were making, then it should have stayed.

The honest answer is:

1) you respec as much as you can to cobble together something working again.

2) you go backwards in terms of difficulty and farm at lower levels to get more gold to respec

3) as you get more gold, you respec points and get closer to where you want to be, slowly increasing difficulty and being able to farm gold faster.

The above is NOT fun. It's work, it sucks, and it probably means some people will stop playing the game.

I hope respec in general is something they put more thought into in the coming months.

It feels like they need to find a more nuanced solution that both keeps the "weight" of choices players make, but isn't so inflexible it pushes people out of the game when they do mid season/league balance changes.
