" Good to know Diablo 3 and Diablo 4 are souls-likes. |

" I also thought like you in Act 1. I died a lot, I rage quitted. But after I changed my build, items and skills a bit, I realized that PoE is not a Souls-like game but a MMORPG-like indeed. We were playing PoE 1 with 1 or maybe 2 spells. Rest of our skills were buffs or curses. However in PoE 2 we can access and take lots of skills. And there are some phases we need to use them correctly. Like in a MMORPG... Hours after hours you are getting used to system. Also with correct resistance and defence based items almost no bosses can one shot you. For example Geonor, It was ridiculously hard, right ? Indeed it's not. With +%50 cold resistance it almost can't touch you. Only thing a player should do is searching for a good 1-2 items with cold resistance. That's it. I am playing ED/Contagion build btw. Also until Geonor, I didn't use Bone Cage spell. But in the mist phase, Bone Cage was my lifesaver. Etc, etc. PoE is still PoE. But more challenging than the first game. But I totally accept that Act 1 was cruel. It's hard for a starting Act. Especially for some builds... But the tuning, buffs and nerfs would fix it. " and i thought poe2 will be gatekept from d4 players by poe1 players. turns out poe1 players are gatekeeping poe players from poe2 what the heck. this game is for people who like this game, not for people who dont like it |

" I agree but only because it seems they just can't integrate these 2 genres well enough.
I've never played a souls game, for the very reason it's too unforgiving. But I've seen a lot of people play it.
I wouldn't say this is a souls-like, but it's circling the genre. With how slow paced and unforgiving this game is, and the terribly slow campaign, the replayability of this game is very low. For me it's non-existent if the game stays like this. And I usually play 3-4 different characters per season. |

This is just a parody of a souls-like. A very bad joke at that.

" Because Dark souls games are unforgiving and rewarding at the same time.
To be honest one of the biggest set backs of this being a "Souls like" is the fact that the one shot mechanics are more difficult to avoid. In souls like the one shots was easy to run away from or dodge roll out of, but in this game they track you while winding up making it difficult to get away from. Sometimes impossible if your movement speed isn't high. I'm okay with one shot mechanics if visual clarity exists and you can actually move out of the way. But this tracking you until the last moment that just ain't it. This isn't souls like, it's just a punishing game that poorly tries to mimic souls games. At least they got the You Died screen right.

" "This game" is an ARPG game where you have multitude of ways to increase your survivability and simply not die to incoming damage even if you don't roll out. |

I like how someone is trying to say random one shots instead of admitting they are standing in something they shouldn’t.
POE1 has this and it’s even less telegraphed so this is just excuses for either a bad build or refusing to press dodge correctly |
