Who was POE2 made for?

I'm loving it.
Its much much better to play than PoE. I like the combat, I like how they have made the item crafting an actual core element of the game outside of end game. I like how the bosses are unique and actually hard, although I think I've found a way to make them easy like PoE bosses, but that will likely be nerfed eventually.

I really like that I know what is killing me and when I do get killed its because I screwed up. It can be really frustrating when I know I've screwed up a solid 10 seconds before I die, but hey, its still on me.

Isnt the fun building a character to overcome the difficulty

If I am lvl 10 and the game is already easy it will be BORING at endgame

I want to build my char, find loot, craft loot to be able to do more difficult areas.

I dont want easy. Easy is not fun.


If Path of Exile exists and is what you like. Go play that. There is a reason they didnt replace POE1 with POE@ but let is coexist next to each other.

It was made for true Diablo2 fans by true Diablo2 fans.

The power creep in POE went too far and there is no way to go back, so they made a new game, game they really wanted to have.
If you expected POE2 to be POE1 with better graphics and even more blasting, then I have bad news, you will stick with POE1 for next 5 years, Because POE2 (hopefully) will never reach POE1 power/speed/momentum/loot levels its just different game, for many people it's improvement.

I hope GGG will continue to build on this amazing base of a game they have and keep everything in check, so it doesn't become POE1 (which I also love)

Agreed.
The very first impression I had was "This plays how I remember D2 playing".
That isnt to say it plays like D2. It just plays how 12yr old me remembers it playing. I get that same feeling and enjoyment that I got from D2 all those years ago but with far nice graphics and animation and modern mechanics while still retaining the imputes on character build.

I'll never return to PoE 1, because most of the ARPG things in that game have been made irrelevant;

* the campaign is irrelevant, you just rush through it
* everything below T16 is irrelevant
* level 100 is irrelevant
* all bosses outside of pinnacles are meaningless
* loot is meaningless - a visual obstruction that we mostly hide away
* build & gear progression is very short (even in SSF)
* only extremely rare items and encounters are a metric of success
* visually the game looks like epilepsy
* the game is complex, but gameplay is trivial
* zerg rushing everything is a valid strategy
* the SSF looting experience is like wading through an endless dumpster
...

Therefore, PoE 2 was made for me. GG GGG.


(only crafting is still good and better in PoE1. But I'm sure they will expand it in PoE 2)

100%. The first two acts in PoE 2 feel like D2 home... I'm loving it.

It was made for people that liked ruthless, or well the person casue there were basically none. The game is great, but if it releases in its current state or even close to it, it will not be a seasonal game for me personally, but a one of to do the campaign, since it's actually amazing.

While slow gameplay doesn't bother me, the slow progression and the scarce loot (especially endgame, since the pacing is better in campaign with quest rewards, many bosses etc) makes it more of a slog then anything resembling fun. For those who enjoy it, i'm glad you do and i can see why, and i wouldn't wanna change the game to take that away from you, and while this sounds quite negative, i still think it's impressive what they have created here and i would still gladly give this game a 9 or 10 regardless of me wanting to play every season or not.

It is what it is.

Obviously it's made for Dark Souls players. Just look at the loudmouths it has attracted while leaving just everyone else severely bored and annoyed.

Clearly you have not even played Dark souls. Simple mobs of DS are harsher way harsher than this whole game.

And no.. your assessment of population seems very wrong.. 481K people online in steam alone yesterday.

That is at least 480k bored people. And I didn't suggest this was a good implementation of Dark Souls' principles, as a matter of fact it's a very bad one. As to why anyone would enjoy an inferior game like Dark Souls is also beyond me. But there is no other game where the 'fans' are as loudmouthed. Preferably telling you you suck at the game while you cleared the campaign 3 times and they still are working on their first clear. The game is like porn to them.
