PoE2 is simply not an enjoyable game and the player counts are going to plummet

Once the honeymoon phase wears off, player numbers are going to plummet and this game will be nothing more than a small niche in the APRG genre, unless some serious design and philosophy changes start happening by GGG.

Getting no loot is not fun.

Getting no currency is not fun.

Running around giant maze maps at the speed of a snail while having no movement skills is not fun.

The crafting system is terrible at this point.

Taking 15+ minutes to kill a boss unless you have a top meta build is not fun.

I just hit cruel difficulty and I think I'm already done. People playing endgame maps are also saying the endgame is horrible with no loot drops. The only people saying the game is good in its current state are copers. 99% of people are going to get to end campaign (or quit beforehand, more likely) and realize they have zero desire to do this slog all over again and roll another character.

There's a reason nobody plays Ruthless in PoE. For whatever reason, the devs thought it'd be a good idea to design the sequel around this entire concept of barely handing out loot. It's going to kill the game.

I agree. I don't want it to, but as it stands idk why I'd keep playing this over PoE1 or more to the point, Dark Souls/Elden Ring, the game they actually wanted to make.

Thing is:

In DS/ER the large open maps have tons of secrets and things to discover, PoE2 larges open maps are just endless slogs of combat with maybe 3 things to find

In DS/ER each boss drops a semi useful item depending on what build you are doing, in PoE2 the boss drops are garbage 99% of the time

In DS/ER relatively early on you can get your combat style going and if you are knowledgeable you can pretty much make a build before you even start the primary sequence of events. In PoE2 half my skills are locked behind lv 40 meaning I Will use the same handful of leveling builds each character

In DS/ER the bosses have telegraphed attacks requiring timing and precision that are clearly visible. In PoE2 it's just AOE spam mostly you spend your time spamming dodge roll in circles around, or at least that's what carried me to lv 54 and cruel difficulty.

The reward for beating this games spammy and tedious bosses is another spammy and tedious boss.

Once I learned maps were 1 death and you're kicked out, I just quit. MAybe it'll be fun down the road but PoE1 is a superior ARPG and DS/ER are superior souls games, this is a mash of both and a succcesor to neither.

Yeah it does seem like the devs tried to take some inspiration from the Dark Souls series without understanding what made those games so good/popular in the first place.

It honestly feels like they looked at PoE1 and thought "How can we make the user experience more miserable in every way possible?" and that's how they ended up with PoE2.

Yeah. This together with having a ping on top(some of us with like 60ms+) just kills the game for me. It's just not fun when you don't know even what killed you. Was it the lag? Did I roll too late? The game just feels like some spammy jank-fest and not like a Souls game at all

It's like they took the worst, most bs parts about POE 1 and decided to make a brand new game around that. I just don't fucking get it. Are they really expecting us to go thru 6 acts of this every league? I'm not doing that at least
Ninja.

OP,

Your opinions are not facts.

I am loving the game as it is, even though I understand and agree that some tweaks definitely need to happen.

They will make changes and it will balance itself out.

Derp breaths.
Counter point. PoE 1 appealed to a niche miniority of ARPG players and PoE 2 fixes a lot of design issues the first game had.

PoE 2 will hit a higher peak next weekend because everyone realizes it's not like PoE 1. It's the next generation of ARPGs and GGG made a masterpiece.

PoE 1 is still there for those players that enjoy that type of game and PoE 2 is here for a far more immersive combat ARPG.

80% positive reviews on steam. Seems like it's quite the opposite of what you thought guys.
I’m loving POE2. It has everything I was looking for…

Why is it mostly POE1 players complaining?

What am I missing here? The game is nearly perfect except for a few small tweaks that can easily be fixed before the full launch…

I don’t understand

Why are the players of the game this one is a sequel to complaining? Are you stupid or just new? It's like wondering why Dark Souls 1 players are critiquing dark Souls 2 lol.

It's perfectly boring I agree. PoE1 is a better arpg and any FromSoft game is a better game than this since they clearly wanted to make a soul like game but got stuck with an ARPG.

The decline might take longer, as there are still plenty of people waiting to get access, but, yes, I suspect that long-term viability for PoE Deuce is gonna be poor, once everyone clamoring to get in has gotten their taste. ='[.]'=
