It seems to me many posters here never played Diablo2 in its high brackets

PvE in Diablo2 was too goddamn easy and repetitive. There was really no entertaining endgame PvM side. Only ones were:

1) baal runs
2) uber tristram runs
3) mf runs

The first one was a 3 minute run hosted by an high level player 95% of times hammerdin with maphack who killed Baal and his minions while other players (you) leeched exp, 100% not entertaining and challenging, it was basically free exp

The second one was doable by only few builds and usually all with crushing blow. Smiter paladins where obviously advantaged and usually a player created a smiter solely for this

The third one was made by sorceress with built-in teleport or hammerdins. Other MF builds where simply not efficent enough against the first two

There where ZERO risk vs. reward scenarioes aside from uber tristram, where with a smiter the risk was near zero.

Drop rates where BAD. EXTREMELY bad. Making a legit self found Enigma (mandatory for duels and MF aside sorcs) was simply impossible in under 6 months. Trading was REQUIRED to have the best gear.

The really successfull aspect of D2 was PvP where the game shined and was actually well balanced. But in order to even be competitive in PvP you just needed an impossible to find Enigma which requires for an average players months of trading.

Without that successfull PvP Diablo2 would have died years and years ago. That's why imo is extremely important to have a good PvP in RPG/ARPG/MMOS (PvP tournaments? soon? lol).

POE is def. better than D3, but lower for D2.

So much rage and epeen in this thread. I love both games for different reasons.
