10k armor, 3k health, max resists, Steelpoint two-shots me with his RoA

The simple reason that boss is so strong is that he is using a PHYSICAL attack with high damage.

As you can see the way armor works is explained on the wiki:

Damage Reduction = Armour / ( Armour + (12 * Damage) )

This means that the HIGHER (bigger) the hit is with a physical attack, the LOWER the actualy damage reduction from your armor actually is.
Even though it will say you have around 50-60ish damage reduction on your character spreadsheet in game, when this boss hits you, it is probably closer to 10-20%, thus resulting in your demise.

At 3K life, that can be dangerous to do. See, he's around this corner, and you can't get a bead on him, but he can easily RoA you as you come around that corner. He has to be the damndest map boss for 67 maps.

I don't particularly like him, either, and do think it's kinda inconsistent with the various other maps choices. Kinda like Brutus on 66's. The way around it is to party up and let the meat shields do their work.

One may need to acknowledge that one can't solo every map in the set of maps available at your level.

Ranged attack totem with ROA. You stay out of range, totem does all the work. He's down in less than 1 min. See the bow for support gem setup:

"The Eye of Ra appears against you,
His force is powerful against you.
She devours you, she punishes you
In this her name 'Devouring Flame."

And in the case for Brutus you at least have time to react to his Period Attack.

This may be more of an area design problem than it is a boss features problem. Or it could be that they simply want you to have a map in the set of 67's that you, with your build, can't do alone. I'll not comment on whether that's good or bad game design; not sure if I have an opinion.

Out of curiosity, do you have LL on your primary attack?

Yes. Level 17 Life Leech. I do 6k dps with my Cleave.

No amount of Life Leech is going to save me from a two shot though.

Yeah. I usually team up with a friend who's a dual spork guy for this particular map. Also, when I added LL, to my primary, I started being able to get in there and do some damage without a 100% suicide rate. ;-P

Ah. You're melee. I see. That would suck. I'm ranged, and found him difficult at 3K life. I have 3500 now. I don't know how you could do this at all. I'd get a team mate or two for these maps, preferably someone who can drop in summons or damage totems into the area.

Yup. I didn't want to mention it because it might trigger another shitstorm about melee vs ranged, and that wouldn't be what I would consider to be a useful discussion.

Guess I just have to skip that map or the boss room then, at least until I have 4k health and 20k armor and max resists when I have somehow farmed until I'm level 90.

Ah, I remember first doing Thicket with Twinned mod...

This boss is mostly hard because of how Rain of Arrows works and the small area you're in. Some characters will just get absolutely mullered. I remember playing Thicket and enjoying is nice size then get to the two bosses. First time I TP'd in a map just to get back flasks.

You need health not armor.I facetank everything with my 1.700 armor and 4.700 health.Life leech is very important and dont forget to use enfeeble/temporal chains for dangerous monsters.

Life leech doesn't do anything against one or two big (consecutive) hits, which is what this thread is about. Derp on.

Life leech helps but it depends what build you play.Since he is playing ranger and rangers have no damage then it wont help him much but every little bit of life leech helps, newbie.

Learn to read. I didn't say life leech was useless. I said it's useless against a few consecutive big hits.

Sit, newbie.
