You shouldn't get hit often and on the other hand, well composed team will often win without player help - just had a final game vs Ikiaho, I died early/mid game at champion totem, but I was sure my team will win it from there so I just alt-tabed. Biggest compliments for my crafted items - "bs, they must have been RMT'ed"

So I just did another tournament with my (bad) DPS build. Took ~20 minutes. Large part of that the last match. Enemy had Camouflaged whatever-their-name. And my totems just didnt want to kill them. And my units ignore them apparently. Not sure how this exactly works. I tried placing totems directly on top of them (bad with EoW) which seemed to help but not sure. And my DPS is falling off already at rank ~400. Realistically achievable single target damage currently is likely between 10M and 15M. If mob survival scales in linear fashion (no idea?) I would need >50M just to be able to play it at rank 2000.
No wonder it's lost, it's in the middle of the jungle!

Some sustained 15-20M dps will do but I got to rank 2K on a shitty WoC ingite build with 2.5M dps by outplaying the mechanic. All I did was using the Polaric Devastation ring to apply "covered in Ash" and not even for the bonus dmg, but the slow effect. Then I cursed them as well and had the "hindered while cursed" mastery. That was it. 2 slow effects for CC and my team would do the rest. My win ratio at that points was roughly 50% - but I was still learning about team compositions. Later I was also running a poison SRS build with about 25M dps - which is fake because they never attack the same target unless there is nothing else to attack. So realisticly I had half of those 25M and thats me being generous. Its enough to kill things for sure but killing stuff in Tota is not the way. |

"Just looked (superficially) at your build and compared with "Nomancs"s build. You likely have <50% of "Nomancs"s build single target DPS. Missing 3 gem levels and using melee splash support. Lvl 4+ Empower may be much better than the melee splash for TotA. "Ok, didnt know this. They were visible right next to my (ancestral) totems. But my (EoW) totems wouldnt target/hit them. Whether its viable in SSF I dont know: So far I have not been able to come up with a good cheap SSF-viable DPS build for TotA. No wonder it's lost, it's in the middle of the jungle!

If you have to go to that extend, then it stand to reason that "killing stuff isnt the way". Which is also why you cant come up with a SSF build achieving just that. If we are playing the semantics game here, then fine, Ill conced and you win. If we are talking about reasonable builds most player could replicate - especially in SSF - then outplaying the mechanic instead of killing stuff is indeed the way to go. |

Ofc it's possible the adaptations I did, to fit in void sphere and change from despair to temporal chains curse was poor choices. The idea was to slow them down more, and see if the void sphere stuff would help. It did ofc, but only so much. Everybody won't team up in the centre, or wherever I placed it, and it's auto-removed when I get one-shot. Changed from determination aura to grace too, plus a jade flask, and defiance banner. All to get up evasion. Maybe it helped, but it was hard to tell. Still got oneshot plenty, that's for sure. You'll just have to trust me that DPS isn't an issue. It's kinda pointless to go around trying to kill everything, they'll just respawn anyway, but sometimes I need to kill a turtle or a pesky chieftain, and that's fine enough. The issue is getting oneshot and utterly overrun in some matches. And well, just kinda hating the mechanic :D Should also be said that I do play on console, and targeting totems is a right pain at times. When I actually do that, for example at the end of matches when I want to win faster, or in a desperate measure to not lose cause our units aren't doing jacksh*t anywhere. It also takes much longer to place or change units between matches, so it's impossible to play as quickly as the PC crew does. But no matter, I'm not a super quick player anyway. The issue I have with the mechanic is that it's wildly unbalanced and that it's extremely frustrating to keep dying and not get to play the darn game. If the respawn timer was 5 seconds instead of 30, it would probably be much less aggravating. Edit: quickly looked at the link again, and it was in fact correct (except the info up top, which looks wrong, like evasion rating). But like I said in the post earlier, you need to select "TOTA setup" in the drop down boxes.
