Hope the TOTA league mechanics never make it to the core
yes the league is dog.
For the hardcore players especially, where you don't really have millions of dps you actually have no choice but build cheese if you want to go over 1k |

"IMO its not intuitive at all. I have to systematically learn with out-of-game resources, similar to lots other things in PoE. "Anti TotA builds are far more whacky than any other specialist builds though. At least mine is... And you only need a cheap build to easily beat it at (presumably) any rank. Its an equalizer that doesnt fit with the rest of the game. No wonder it's lost, it's in the middle of the jungle!

i've never been a fan of PvP and this kinda feels the same. like other posters i've tried about 10 runs and spent 5 min looking like i'm winning then game over. tried to read up on strategy but.... naa have to say worst league ever in my book but hey we all have our likes and dislikes.
oh but huge fan of tatoos! yeah just keep those! |

TOTA is one of the most boring mechanics ever. i cant bare to run it no matter how rewarding it can be. mind you for me it was never rewarding because i cant be bothered to spends hours doing it to get high rank.
keep tattoos, get rid of the mechanic |

" This is probably the best league for HC we've had like this or Sanctum, you can do it in your pajamas, can't die, it has very reliable currency rewards and tattoos let you curate all the defensive requirements of your build. |

" Great summary. There's really nothing else to be said beyond that. The league mechanic is abysmally balanced, and the logic the fanboys are using to defend it is dumb. It's a neat idea for a change of pace in that you're not just exploding enemies, but the execution was about as bad as it could be. If not for the rewards (which are excellent and I'd love to see go core), I'd say this is probably the worst league I've ever played. Anyone who's seriously trying to argue that TOTA is good game play is out of their mind, and I'm saying that objectively. Getting one-shot off screen by Kuho and then respawning under a Goliath of Night and getting one shot immediately again is about as bad as gameplay gets. |

since GGG goes quantity over quality, tota will most likely go core even in such an unbalanced state.
making a build specifically for this removes the point of playing any build for usual content why not making heist, sanctum runners only viable for their mechanics? "There are Penalties in the Game, no one's complaining about them"

" Build that works for tota can be 100% funcional in other content, lol. Biggest compliments for my crafted items - "bs, they must have been RMT'ed"
I'm disabled, I have rare case of semperduravera, so I can write things that may look rude, but it is because of disability - I'm forced to tell truth using words you may not like. |

" +1. My 2k TotA farming build is my pinnacle boss farming build, with one minor change (swapping Conc Effect for Awakened Inc Area). |

I can't say I'll be playing this if it goes core, and I kinda hope it doesn't if that means PoE 2 is less likely to have other mechanics from PoE 1. Not really my kind of gameplay. I'm not sure that league mechanics where death has no XP cost are actually good for balance, since it seems to encourage more frequent one-shots as part of the design as an easy failure condition.
The atmosphere is great, the music is fantastic, the feel of the gameplay is good, but the mechanic is more of a novelty for me than something I'd like to run repeatedly. Rank 500 odd once was more than enough. No easy downlevelling, no forfeit, fast one shots, some poor telegraphing, offscreening, imbalanced teams, match downtime with lots of walking between NPCs when a menu would have sufficed, also didn't help. But even if all of that changed, I'd rather play a mapping or bossing mechanic. I also wasn't exactly overwhelmed by tattoos, I have dozens stashed unused. The utility is kinda nice but for me felt a little measley and gated, and several builds I've played this league don't have attribute flexibility and already needed a timeless jewel. I'm not sure the complexity they add is worth the benefit to me. I've still really enjoyed the league! |
