It's not a bug, it's a feature. The devs WANT you to die, as often as possible and they don't really care about stuff like balance or fairness in their means of doing that.

If you try to react to stuff you are already on the road to failure, you have to avoid things actively, not reactively. Don't stand in place, always keep moving even if you think it's save.
Also life flasks won't keep you alive, as you already noticed, by the time you realize you are taking damage and want to use one, you are likely dead already. You need methods of recovery that work without you having to do anything. Regen, leech, recoup, life gain on block whatever works for your build.

and sure its easy to react to 1 shot from off screen with bugged animations and stupid speeds from enemy

well im not even talking about this leauge slam 1 hit ko, im talking about normal mobs on T16 without anything like - max res or armor reduce

I have 1k regen and almost all time 100% hp until I got 1 shooted by random mob ^^

You have 1k regen and no other defense. Again glancing blows is making you less tanky. 35% less damage 3/4 of the time isnt good.

It is a net reduction in effective hit points vs taking 0 damage 1/3 of the time.

Elementalist is already not that tanky of an class and you didnt take two nodes which would increase your survivability by a fair amount. You have no real phys reduction, you have 3 max res which is ok but not great for tier 16 content. The only thing you would be sort of strong against is damage over time because of your regen.

You are also siting at about 500K dps which isnt that good for tier 16 content. Sometimes offense is the best defense in this game.

20k armor is not a lot
78% max res is not great in tier 16 maps
Curse reduction is meh. Good to have but not a massive layer of defense
Immune to vuln is cool but redundant with reduced curse effect
Crit reduction is nice but things dont always crit
Everyone is immune to elemental ailements
Life regen is good. Your one good defense layer
Average max hp with no EHP to back it up
Everyone is overcapped
Again your block is an EHP REDUCTION. You lose tankiness with glancing blows


And yes you do 500k dps when it matters. When I try to help people I throw there chars in PoB to see where damage and defense actually sits. Ok its at about 900k dps when you have all your buffs. But those are only up half the time. Ill call it 800k average. Not bad but not great either.


And if you offscreen one shot everything they cant deal damage to you. Thats where offense is sometimes the best defense.


Here ill just lay out that chars defenses for you:

92% of phys taken as elemental damage
Enemies are cursed with enfeeble and temp chains
100% spell suppression
1.5k regen between leech and regen
4.7k life
40% less cold, fire and lightning damage taken
76% chaos res
80% evade chance
100% reduced curse effect/all ailement immune

I just want to chime in and say... it's absolutely fucking ridiculous that you need all this just to survive.

It wasn't like this before, it wasn't required that you had to go through all this garbage to not die, but GGG has been on the warpath to scaling damage to insane and absurd levels, and it's nothing but frustration after frustration each league.

I just want this shit to go back to the way it was back in Delve and Betrayal leagues, back when you didn't need such a horrible checklist to go through, back when you could throw together some silly build and take it to at least yellow maps.

Those defenses are way overkill for alc and go tier 16 mapping. Its just an example of how tanky you can really get.

You're living in your own little constructed world if you believe that's enough to not get one shot. Unfortunately your beliefs don't dictate what does and doesn't one shot - your character, play ability, and content difficulty do. A lot of people have explained the reality, up to you to accept it or not.

I will sympathize that I've always found it hard to get tanky from witch/shadow, but you have to open your mind to some of the things players here said. Phys taken as ele, boosting armor higher, more max res or some other source of % less ele taken we could go on and on and some have.

That's entirely cap and you know it.

Even with 50k - 80k armor, 6+ endurance charges, playing Juggernaut, spell block, Divine Flesh and 85% chaos res, and 4k+ life, you still get two-shotted by an unmodified Rogue Exile in a tier 3 blue map. This has never happened as far back as Ritual league, and it's not a secret that ever since Archnemesis, GGG has blown enemy scaling completely out of proportion and reason.

Either we have different Path of Exile installations or you're blowing steam out of your ass with that claim.

In any case, I'm already done with PoE and uninstalled today. I'm not going to sit here and resign myself to playing a game that's a shell of its former glory. I'd rather wait until someone else comes up with the next bigger and better game.
