Having the game run faster/smoother means facing even more desync...

Maybe someday it might be on the table, but I'm quite happy with the game as it is.

Diablo 3 had much less desync issues compared to PoE.

PoE is also still in beta.

PoE's optimization issues won't magically disappear when it officially launches in a few months.

but dude consider the tactial depth you can achieve with turn based gameplay. I mean you could control every little movement and action of your character unlike now where its just a huge fuckfest of running around and killing stuff like a moron. Maps would take 2 days to complete but who cares.

You have one char with close combat weapon (sword). What are your gameplay options? One - run into monster and click the single button until he drops dead. Repeat it 10000 times.

It won't work with turn based. You need options and choices to choose from for TB, not a single one: "click LMB". That is what Bioware didn't take into account with Neverwinter Nights, probably the dumbest combat system I saw in RPG

I take it you've never played rogue-likes?

Although to be fair, rogue-likes are balanced very differently from ARPGs in order to take advantage of the tactical choice available from the turn-based nature (and to avoid the game becoming just click 1000 times to win). In rogue-likes, typically there is a strong focus on resource conservation, so that the player has to decide on the best sequence of moves/attacks in order to take down a boss or survive a tough situation.

Just look at fast champions in D3 that have molten, arcane and fast affixes(stacking on top of the fast enemy). If you include that in PoE then the desync would murder groups easily.

I don't think we need this immense crap in PoE

Diablo 3 is a perfect example of millions wasted in the toilet. I have no idea what for they spent all this money. Even levels are tiny linear rehash of D2 levels

maybe they spent it in better (or more) server to prevent desync ;)

i totally agree with the threadstarter, the gameplay in D3 is much better
if D3 and PoE had a child - it would be perfect

To be fair, I would be willing to bet that most people here were born after most rogue-likes were even written. With that said Nethack 4evr. I still often compete in the Nov Nethack tournament. Still haven't successfully ascended without save scumming though, so hardcore.

Desync is not usually caused by the size or speed of the servers. Read the developer manifesto on desync and they go into detail exactly why desync is there. They are working on optimizing the code, but desync is inherent when you do server-side movement like PoE. The more you trust on the client the more you make hacks possible.

"Don't judge a game by its gameplay? Gameplay is what games a game a game you fucking twat!"

Anyway, I agree that the game feel is perhaps a bit lacking but it's still good enough.

With PoE I have 1/10 of D3 around launch lag.

Gameplay wise D3 is casual abomination like Call of Duty xx trash. Everything is worse than 13 years old D2, and in most of cases a way worse

Your original assumption is that better gameplay = more desync. I think that's a pretty ridiculous assumption, or at least I can't seem to think of any reason for why it would be true. But after all not me nor you know how the game works and how they are planning to fix desnyc. My point is that the gameplay should feel better - if there are any technical challenges associated with this, then I have trust in GGG's abilities to solve them.

I'm not assuming anything, I was just giving you some information about a statement you made. They chose a game mechanic that has issue with desync over one where that some players find frustrating. I'm just stating that, if the information is true, you just can't have it both ways. Not every conversation is adversarial you know?
