The new battle pass is really gross

Agreed. It's obnoxious and pathetic.

White knights should read out about predatory lootboxing in modern gaming. Bli$$/activ are kings but ggg is trying to catch up so it seems.

Modern gaming is not done by gamers for gamers like during golden old days. Now you have stakeholders and their expectations, how funny that now more than ever companies care more about PR than actual product. But oh well we have predicted it all when tencent bought ggg and so what. That approach wont ever change and w/o doubt will shape given one into likes of two which were above mentioned.

They'd attract all the opprobrium which Blizzard took for D:I, and without the excuse of this being a mobile game where P2W boosts are sort-of expected.

I also don't think they'd do this. But then, I didn't expect a free track, either.

If it makes money, they will keep doing it.

The only people with enough clout to oppose it are also making money from it.

So...uh, have fun with that. And I mean that earnestly, because if you aren't having fun as a supporting Exile then you are just another pixel on an extremely high res image of a truckload of money going to a company that has a warehouse full of them.

The best time to play the card is when others don't expect it.

But I really don't think they would go there. What they got now is a system that's just kinda somewhat pay2win, there are grounds to defend it. That's common for GGG, even when they do something crappy you can usually see their angle, if you were a highschool teacher you could assign it as a debate topic without getting a one-sided pummelfest.
Currency or items in paid battle pass is 100% indefensible pay2win, it's very clearly on the other side of the fence.

This is exactly as the d4 battle pass, I actually expected something far worse from blizzard*, this style of battle pass doesn’t bother me. A loot box with a 1% chance to contain a headhunter(or D4 equivalent) on the other hand…

I don’t expect this to happen while Chris is still in charge but a while ago did he describe himself as the POE1 CEO, who will be the POE2 CEO? Will he have any ethics?

*we still can get some nasty surprises at launch, but I don’t expect them.
