Ruthless gets a new movement skill (Quickstep)

A bit off-topic, i heard people screaming in D4 beta that they do not have barrel roll in console which is used to be in D3 ......guess GGG find out it is way too hard for no movement skill at all in Ruthless and not the time for nostalgia

I mean I think they are trying to avoid complete embarrassment if the entire event is largely abandoned, or devoid of the best players. The optics are likely going to be quite poor here.

I don't think anyone is delusional about how many people will try the event, including GGG -- at least not so delusional that they think it will be popular.

The better question is whether or not someone will finish. I'm pushing upper maps with a level 83 character with garbage equipment with no real end in sight on that front. Killing Uber-[Anything] in a three month period in SSF HC Ruthless feels like a tall order.

Is that really the better question? My would be "Was that race really worth all the drama and creditablity we sacrificed?" I guess we will see come this weekend.

For me, it is the better question. I think the same races end the same way and they were going to get stale; if not already. Mixing it up with an impossible challenge doesn't seem out of bounds and certainly doesn't take away credibility in my eyes.

I think it's very insensitive on their part though. A race that could take months encourages terrible health choices for the racers to win, especially in a race where no one has ever completed the objective to date. No one.

In a gaming world where "world first" somehow carries weight, people still didn't do it. I personally hope this ends with people giving up before they do something unhealthy for an extended period of time, or someone finishes faster than any of us could have imagined. Unfortunately, I think it will end with someone finishing it while making questionable choices for their health along the way for several months. Their life, their choice. So whatever, I guess.
Thanks for all the fish!

Now add it on spacebar.
Interesting addition and depending on your gear, passives, ascendancy you can have good movement speed, mobility.

The wording of the skill makes it sound like you can't escape if you're surrounded/blocked by enemies.

Maybe it works with Phasing to make it feel better.

I'm not even sure if you can close gaps over rivers, since the wording says "Stopping at any place you cant stand" .
Masterpiece of 3.16 lore
"A mysterious figure appears out of nowhere, trying to escape from something you can't see. She hands you a rusty-looking device called the Blood Crucible and urges you to implant it into your body."

Only usable with Ethanol Flasks

The addition sounds nice. I think it is more designed for sidestepping/evading a boss mechanic or ground effect than to speed up your mapping.

Yep, it seems with this skill you can't dash through mobs or terrain obstacles. So phasing is crucial and proper moving, avoiding being surrounded. But it's good to have such movement skill anyway.

y it is probably exclusively designed for that, because they don't want the race to be actually impossible.

Huge step in the right direction anyways...
Alredy compromising to bait more people into Ruthless. How thrilling...
