8/8 Ruthless?

Maybe I don't understand it because I am not a 40/40 guy but why are you guys so angry about additional things for a different game mode? It does not change the 40/40 trophies at all but some of the posts sound like they are taken away. I'm looking forward to see the challenges for ruthless, but for me it would be ok if they gave ruthless just the normal 40 challenges everybody has and maybe change the few that wouldn't be possible (like use crafting devices or vendor recipes that don't exist in R).

If you don't want to play ruthless then do not play it, if they get rewards for playing ruthless then good for them. It will not take anything away from you besides some cosmetics stuff..... who cares. Also if they decide to invest more money into the ruthless maybe some people enjoy it and they might attract a certain playerbase.

Because completionists don't like handling the psychological ramifications of not getting to complete something, Ironically a problem exacerbated by having all challenges (relatively) easy to complete. (this was mildly sarcastic guys don't hit me with a stick I do completionist shit too on games all the time)

So it shouldn't be that hard to understand just keep in mind everyone has different views, Jerle clearly wants to finish all the challenges every league but doesn't want any to be set in areas they don't see as core.

This is the exact opposite of me where I only want challenges that are a meritocracy including the fact i'm too shit to get many of them and would have that reflected in the rewards.

Neither of us is right or wrong its simply a difference of perspective and goal, in my case I don't care enough to spoil anyones fun over it regardless, I can live with my sweaty HC work having the same cosmetics as everyone else I still know I worked hard to get there.

You get very similar discussions centered around long term games like MMOs, some players want everything to be achievable at any game state, some think achievements should be specific to situation and that includes that many shouldn't be available after the fact.

Unless you are the designer you don't get to choose but its still a design choice eventually.

I come from a similar place like Draegnarrr and I can see the urges of a completionist character too but it is a bit too extreme for my taste (like many posts in this forum that are far worse btw).
I enjoy the Ruthless mode a lot, even if I have things I would like to change about it, it will probably be the mode to go for me from now on. All I read here every day is hate or at least very overly dramatic opinions, claiming to extrapolate the future of the whole company out of one line of 500 lines of patch notes. I think providing different types of players with different ways and paces to play the game is a good thing for everybody. I play SSF for years now and never made a post about how devs should not waste their development time for trade league players or HC gamers or any other type of playstyle. We share the love for the same game for some of the same and also some different reasons and I think that is a good thing. I understand where you are coming from but maybe there is no solution to please us both 100% with many changes, topics, or wishes.
It's kinda obvious - ruthless is boring tedious garbage. Nobody wants to play it. For whatever reasons GGG want to force advertise it. It's again same story as wtih battle royale. I bet, after a league or two they gonna give up on that. They already pulled out everything they got - exclusive event, exclusive loot, exclusive totem, exclusive race (I guess would be funny fiasco with no winner). Pretty soon they realise that until there is ANY choice between ANY game mode and ruthless, ruthless will be skipped by 99.999999% of the players.
3.13 Was the best league ever!
3.18 Rest in peace my beloved recombinators, I'm gonna miss you...

Very welcome Jerle, your immense list of supporter badges speaks to the fact you are consistent with your view and also covers for the fact i am a freeloading pleb with thousands of hours for like 30$ (sorry Chris... i'll buy a map tab this time I promise).

Basically GGG definitely better off listening to you than me lmao

To be clear, I am not against Ruthless, or the fact that it has its own set of 8/8 challenges. I just wished GGG had kept to the same model of 1 set of mtx rewards/totem regardless of the game mode you engaged in.

In this case, GGG gives the same cosmetic reward for Ruthless, but an *alternate* totem pole for Ruthless. For challenge completionists like myself, I will feel compelled to play Ruthless, which affects my enjoyment of the game.

Oh wow, really? I hadn't thought of that yet, thank you so much for the enlightenment.
