It's time for GGG to take back reigns of trade for the sake of the game

I don't have exact solutions but there are certainly some obvious upgrades that official trade site needs.
Either way they need to get back control over trade before it backfires hard.

ps
5way needs rework. XP farm needs to go.

GGG outsourcing key QoL, Trade, and planning tools are very problematic.

Most people would find it very difficult to play without PoB, Craft of Exile, TFT, PoEdb, trade macros, item filters, and more.

TFT specifically has gotten way out of control, and ego management is a problem over there. It's just a toxic mess. GGG has tried to make it less necessary and convenient, but not done a very good job imo.

Sad thing is I dont believe they are going to do much in terms of reducing the community tools by in-housing them. I'd be pleasantly surprised, but other than paying out Neversink, which isnt exactly in-housing, they dont have a good track record of this.

TFT existing saves GGG a crap ton of money/time and solves the trade friction issue by letting people bypass some of the friction if they choose to use the service (while leaving the friction in for players who abstain.) Chris will always support their existence, or the existence of an identical service, unless things get too out of hand.

I enjoy reading dramaposts on Reddit and I listened to the 2 videos but all I've heard so far is hearsay. GGG knows the truth and they've already said the person implicated in the videos is innocent of all wrongdoing. That proves nothing, of course, because GGG would stand to lose a lot of money by banning people or admitting that shady stuff goes on. But we'll never know.

As for pricefixing, sniping, and bulk buyouts...that will always happen. No cartel needed. The rich will always be able to control supply of stuff like good synth bases because they can pay any price to monopolize the market.

That's not really true. CW has commented on TFT not being ideal, and they have made efforts to make it slightly less advantageous (Harvest changes)

In the end TFT, and the experiences there, impact how GGG customers feel about PoE. I think you are minimizing the damage TFT can have on the playerbase. I havent checked recently but registered users were a few hundred thousand. That's a good chuck of overall players percentage wise.

Nobody will like it if they actually take the reigns back because the playerbase has become indoctrinated to believe that bulk buying 100 invitations and winged scarabs with 100% delirium is normal.

You can't stuff that back in the bottle it won't fly, it would completely change how many SC zoomers play every league, craft, develop their characters and fundamental endgame balance as such.
On a related note: This is the problem with unpunished/unchecked RMT in general. It devalues the game and the time you spend on it. Why spend 10 hours grinding for something when you can just buy it for 5 bucks? With a game so economy based it just ruins the whole suspension of disbelief.
Ninja.
If only you could play POE just fine without TFT

Well you could, but apparently 364,671 members disagree.

Edit: which wow, was more than I was expecting

Although I don't consider that normal it's their fault they outsourced that to TFT. But they can fix exactly that by giving more options to official trade site.

I think they are in too deep right now with PoE2 development and can't devote too much time to stuff like trade atm but I have no doubt it's on their radar as something that needs to be dealt with.

This 100%
We've already reached a point where some players will rather pay 60 or 100$ to buy orbs at league start rather than buying mtx.
It hurts the game on multiple levels.
