What is the point playing PoE?

To ruin and hate life.

Stuff....on the ground...lots of stuff.

To pass the time until the sweet,sweet embrace of death.

I played PoE a few times before in short bursts, but never got farther than Act 3 (or 4, not sure). Reason is, I always played hardcore and deleted the character on death, I can't stand the initial lack of punishment for death, and the easy way the early mobs die. Just delete delete delete everything on screen, interesting boss fight, delete delete delete etc. I never understood the way modern arpgs (other games also like Destiny) make you play 10h minimum forced tutorial in form of an easy campaign, to get to the real game.

Anyway, now that there is ruthless, I play this in hardcore (or HC SSF if I want to dash here or there heh), and currently the point is to finish the campaign on hc ruthless first, without knowledge or experience from playing the game on standard. So, I have no idea when or if I'm going to do that, know nothing about meta builds just take what seems to possibly help me here and now etc etc, and enjoy every upgrade, item, buff or whatever.

Ofc at some point I might learn enough in the process to start playing endgame the way it's intended, don't play that much though so not sure. I don't care if I finish games anymore, what matters is the moment to moment gameplay, and I clearly enjoy it here. I have multiple games that I played a lot but didn't finish (like Xcom 2 hc top difficulty, or hc Alienation), and the thrill of getting into a new, hard area with high risk of an impactful death never gets old.

In short, for me the point is the journey, and the campaign itself.

becuz its fun? literally the only reason why anyone is playing any games? you will never play a game whats not fun for you

well its good and fun game, no need any other reason to play.

But to be fair alot of ppl play poe because we dont have any game that comes even close to poe as ARPG

Unfortunately PoE gameplay doesn't appeal to me, in the endgame everything is very similar: Hitkill bosses, lightning speed mapping, HH, Mageblood, it doesn't matter if it's Ranger, Spell or Melee, everything is maxed out for maximum speed and DPS, I feel like if i was playing the same thing....
