What is the point playing PoE?

I always wondering. What is the point playing PoE when you already kill all pinnacle bosses and mixmaxed your build? I see streamers still playing, but the end with all content in the game, having 100+ divines and minmaxed their build. So whats the point to play afterwards?

The same reason you play any game. To have fun.

Path has a lot of ways to play, which does allow an immense amount of 'try one more thing'. Between the self improvement "Do this boss, but with a harder build, faster than I did before, without dying, without this powerful build, before anyone else, without getting hit" Etc.

It also has a thousand roads to power. You could play for a year, making a new character each time you killed the top end content, and never retread a skill if you wanted. And thats just well documented builds, there's a endless jungle of builds to explore to see what works and what doesn't and a thousand micro twists on builds to grind out a favorate, do you like Dash or Flame Dash? Can you do without either and instead use a new skill? Is Mark On Hit your jam? Maybe it's better as the skill that causes the mark to spread?

Even after you've beaten the boss, the core game has a lot of space to wander, which is why a lot of players can easily find a reason to keep playing if they want.
A good RPG always has a RP factor so exploring the game's story is an important part, however POE doesn't have that everything that leagues have been bringing for a long time is merely a generally generic mechanic and typically focused on the Chinese public. PR is persistent and community play here is not only discouraged but PUNISHED. what remains is that these games usually have many elements to explore but since ultimatum focuses ALL game engine on ultra super builds so unless you are willing to play 20h / d for several days to have a bild with billions of DPS there isn't much to do, the worst thing is that these builds are so exhausting that in the end everything dies instantly transforming ALL content into just walking forward and picking up loot from the ground, the boses could be challenges with interesting fights like dancing the to be overcome and events to adapt, but again at the end you either blow up the bos in SECONDS or get killed by an offscrem projectile. Unfortunately POE started as a successor to the GREAT diablo 2, today it is more generic Chinese action as on the same level or WORSE than Diablo 3 and I do not say this with joy but with a lot of regret in my heart because I really love this game and I am sorry for what it has become became.

I actually enjoy running a new character through the campaign, different build and all that. I'll play maps, but they lack a certain focused goal flavor that the campaign provides. =^[.]^=

I felt the same, kinda still do. However, it's gotten better since they added the Atlas passive tree and Eater and Exarch.

I enjoy the process of starting over with everyone else. Afterwards building a character up an doing the challenges keeps me going. After doing whatever my goal is for challenges, I will work on achievements. After that, I will take a break from the game and either play something else casually, or watch a tv series. Life is quite busy. I don't know how people play this game non-stop the entire season, but all the power to them.
I hope the answer to this question for most people is to have fun.
Thanks for all the fish!

Entirely wrong as you don't need 20/h a day to achieve something nor millions of dmg to beat anything cause the game gets easier with every league and the ever growing power creep.
Quite a bold move to compare the game with d3 cause you get to beat everything with different approaches, you also end up with new content with every league and so on.

D3 on the other hand offers what? Actually nothing since a very long time.
You are forced to play the current bis set piece in order to run endgame, or well more like to run what's left of the endgame.
Flames and madness. I'm so glad I didn't miss the fun.

I personally am very goal-oriented and so if I don't have a goal in whatever game I'm playing, I'm probably not playing it. It can be reaching 40/40 challenges, hitting lvl 100, completing the campaign, completing the atlas, reaching a certain delve depth etc. In other games, its the same. Completing goals is what I enjoy. The moment I hit my goal, it feels completely pointless to continue to play the game unelss I can find another goal to reach. I don't know why my brain works like that, but it does.

Some streamers have streaming as a job, and so for them playing the game is probably mostly just to make money late in a league. If they switch to a different game most of their viewers leave so they don't really have a choice.

That said, some people apparently have fun playing a game forever without really having a goal, at least from what I've read. I can only speak for myself though.
What a useless question.

Most people play video games to have fun. Now, "fun" does of course vary from player to player. Some find it fun to progress through the acts and maps. Some find it fun to try new things. Some fine it fun to min/max their build 'forever'. Some fine it fun to try and "break" the game. Some find it fun to earn as much currency as they can. Some fin it fun to abuse the market. Some find it fun to troll in global chat. Some find it fun to race, and try to beat their own (and other people's) time. Some people use PoE to earn IRL money, be that legit through streaming, or not-so-legit through RMT. I could probably go on here, but I can't be bothered.

Anyhow, 99% of all reasons come down to "fun", whatever that "fun" may be. And if you're not having fun, your time is of course better spent elsewhere.

Sometimes, just sometimes, you should really consider adapting to the world, instead of demanding that the world adapts to you.

-Just like D3, everything that has been added to the game is merely mechanical and has nothing to do with the story and in the end it doesn't even matter since everything dies in seconds.
-Like D3 the only defense is to kill everything before they move
-As well as D3 there are 3~4 items that dominate the league and are so decisive that when you use one of them you get an increase of thousands of percent in dps.
-Like D3 everything that is part of an RP defense has been removed and now we have stacks of percentage damage reductions like spell suppression or damage reocur even with a whole set of armor you don't reach the 2% bonus of a flask+ determination.
-Just like D3 everything is based on RNG and loot goblins.
-And for me the worst thing is that just like in D3, the answer to powercreep is the "hard lvl"> uber >UberUber...
