What is the point playing PoE?

I always wondering. What is the point playing PoE when you already kill all pinnacle bosses and mixmaxed your build? I see streamers still playing, but the end with all content in the game, having 100+ divines and minmaxed their build. So whats the point to play afterwards?

People who enjoy games usually set their own goals, not just go for the arbitrary 'goals' set by the video game. If I woud play for challenges or just to kill a certain boss, I would maybe have played 1000 hours in 9 years instead of 10.000. It's not just for PoE but that's for every most non-linear game, because if you reason like you, playing games in general becomes pointless, doesn't it?

But maybe I'm an exception, if I would go for challenges I would burn out very very fast because it forces me to do something I don't want, and why do something you don't want in a video game? We're all already wasting so much time doing arbitrary things in life, why mimic that in a game and do even more things you don't like?

Those who reply with "fun" probably are addicted, have a target that requires a ton of grinding, playing because it's their job (streamers), play with friends and it's a social activity or have nothing better to do. Although fun is subjective I doubt anyone is playing just for fun.

I would be interested to hear what 'fun' PoE provides after many weeks of playing.

And the reward for the most ignorant post on the PoE forums has a new contender. Grats.

I would hate to be on the selection committee to decide the winner of that award. The last decade has produced some strong contenders.
Thanks for all the fish!

Well per usual Phrazz dropping a hyperbole bomb.

The comment isnt even ignorant, it's just wildly contradictory to the point of confusion. (And amusement?)

There is no way you can say fun is subjective, and then literally in the same sentence say no one is having it. That makes zero sense.

I think it depends on what they meant since they dropped that special piece of wisdom and never came back to clarify. If I recall, I was the first to respond and asked for clarity on what they said. Crickets.

If I was correct in my summary of what they said, then I would definitely classify it under the umbrella of ignorant.

Of course it is. To stereotype everyone that finds PoE fun, and put them in certain derogatory boxes can be described in many ways. "Ignorant" is one of them.

Yeah maybe. Either way I agree the comment was ridiculous.

I tend to look at "ignorant" two ways when I read or hear it. Intentionally ignorant, and accidentally ignorant. Like "I was ignorant of the laws of the country I visited" versus "that was a really ignorant comment you made about the people in that country". Basically not knowing something innocently, or being uneducated on a topic and making an assumption or statement.

Here I tend to think it was some major projection. They were not having fun so nobody else could be either, while simultaneously qualifying that with the acknowledgement fun is different for everyone.

Smooth.
Did you try turning it off and on again?
Kill monsters, get loot, progress in power to kill bigger monsters, kill bigger monsters get bigger loot. repeat.
Same reasoning as living, you do it for fun or for a self imposed objective. Once that objective is achieved or the fun fades, find another, be it another objective ingame or another game altogether.

It's literally the reason they imposed upon themselves the 3 month league cycle, to give the players something to do.
Ruthless should be [Removed by Support].
its a crafting simulator not an arpg anymore.
so dunno what ppl play it
