What content is still worth doing lootwise?
Running Black Scythe logbooks and haggling with Tujen vomits currency: you'll be getting raw Divines, Enlightens/Empowers (guess not so valuable anymore), Cortex, random valuable 21/23 gems, tons of Chaos and stacked decks, and other easily sellable currency like Regrets and Vaal orbs.
The downside is that it's kinda on the boring side? Because you have to sit in your hideout haggling with Tujen. |

" Worth nothing? It seems like you underestimate the power of abyss. You don't get a constant supply of a fixed income but you do get a lot of divines out of it in the long run. I've never blocked abyss and have earned plenty of divines just for running it since league start. And it was a worth time investment Amanamu's Gaze? Good corrupted 8 mod abyss jewels worth a couple of divines? Both still worth a lot for the short time it takes to finish up a abyss Flames and madness. I'm so glad I didn't miss the fun.

Crafting?
Its not straight up loot, I know, you still need to loot bases and materials in order to craft and it does generate serious money. I made tons of divines from crafting and selling ghastly eye jewels for poison SRS. |

" Sorry but crafting died in 3.13 and the current gambling in POE is a big fat red flag for me. Just pulling the lever over and over burning currency hoping to get something worthwhile before your budget runs out, no thanks. I use it from time to time in standard where i have enough money to stomach failures but if i have little currency to begin with i won't start gambling it away hoping to get more. Plus, just like Heist, Expedition and trading it isn't exactly what i have in mind when it think about "playing an ARPG". ARPGs should be about killing monsters not haggling with npcs/players or keep pulling levers in your hideout. |

Essences are always worth doing, easy to farm (I mean they appear in every map and don't require heavy investment) too.

Hmm weird, Im always making money from crafting, despite the RNG involved but thats irrelevant to the topic at hand.
Anyways, the way Im looking at this is pretty simple: There are 3 ways to acquire gear. Looting, crafting, trading. In my mind this dictates a hierarchy. Looting has to be worst option, otherwise there wouldnt be a reason for crafting and trading to exist in the first place. Crafting has to be better than looting, but cant be perfect because if it was, trading would be pointless. Which is also why 3.13 Harvest had to be nerfed. Consequently trading is the fastest and easiest way to get exactly what you want, which is why GGG insists on trading being somewhat annoying, trying to reign it in to some degree and make it less appealing or more appalling - depends on how you look at it I suppose. Thats the price we all have to pay, because the devs want the game to include multiplayer and socializing aspects such as guilds, parties and trade, while you seem to prefer to play the game as if it was a singleplayer game. Ignoring the crafting option leaves you in a pretty bad spot, I think. Because loot isnt all that great and never will be, so you have to grind for currency and buy whatever it is you want. This can be rather exhausting and forces you into an endless ratrace, hunting for some more currency. Since nothing but currency is considered an exciting drop in this scenario, the game feels bland and boring as a consequence. Ive been there myself. Embracing and learning crafting methods was the biggest gamechanger for me and Im enjoying the game way more than before. Would recommend |

I am not saying you can't make money with gambling, obviously you can. If you just pull the lever often enough you will get something out of it eventually and the market prices reflect the difficulty so you can make money with it. I've gotten a few nice pieces of gear myself using gambling, that's not the point.
" Way to put the core problem of POE on public display. Let's trash the core aspect of an ARPG (loot) to add "crafting" that's basically just gambling and which is incredibly annoying to do (pulling the lever i.e alt/fossil/Harvest/Essence spam is among the most retarded activities the game has to offer) and because that's still not annoying enough to torment our players with, let's add a horrible trade mechanic from the end of the last century on it as well for the people who actually want to get good gear without gambling for it. Can't have an enjoyable gameplay experience and good items, you have to pick one or the other. I know you won't agree and i am not really in the mood to have a discussion on it because it won't get anywhere but that right there is my personal biggest issue with this game and the reason i'll bail out of here the moment a somewhat decent competition shows up. It's also the main reason i stick to standard because there i can afford to just ignore those problems to a good extend which makes it bearable. |

" There is no discussion to be had to begin with. The game is what it is for better or worse and you either like it or you dont. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ |

I stopped reading when you typed 'Harvest:lol'. You basically loot about 100c in lifeforce on a decently rolled map, well maybe 50-70c 2 weeks into the league. That's a divine every 4-5 maps. But this also tells me you don't like counting the small currencies, which are essentially the constant flow of income. So yeah end of story for you I guess if you only looking for the lazy drops.
I dropped only 5 raw divines in 1 million kills and nothing more than 3 divine worth, yet I passively farmed up a mirror. But yeah you go and only pick up stuff that is worth 100c in one click and see how long that takes you. I'm just tired of people claiming they aren't a regular player yet make whole topic about how useless everything is. This mentality man, it's creeping like cancer.
