There are no builds in PoE. Everything is just exploiting, abusing, and gimmicks

heres why many call this game bloated in mechanics:


base game is dmg, armor, res. vs monster dmg

players get res, armor, dmg - GG raises dmg of mobs,raises their res, cause players tend to use curses
players gain even more armor, res-max- more dmg via mechanics/gimmics - mosters gain even more res, life, extralife, leech, reg life
ggg introduces overwhelm phys, elemental exposure and corrupted blood chaos dmg - players mandatory skill/jewel anti-corrupt, anti-exposure etc

this is just a players versus devs

and its dumb.

dmg now consists of a dmg type, an overwhelm to counter res/armors - and an exposure and curse.

(so lightning now has lightn dmg + exposure + shock + conductivity - just to counter all those res mechanics of mobs for example)

it should really only be armor, res, and anti-res anti-armor curses and thats it.
they constantly add layers of dmg+ AND add layers of anti-dmg + so everything is now bloated.

thats probably why they wont add a dmg log at all, cause that would show how "off the rail" those calcs are.

this also has the weird effect of causing players to simplify their builds in response to an overcomplicated damage system. now all builds are just expected to resist and mitigate all damage types in pretty much the same way, killing the build diversity that POE is supposed to be known for. at this point all of POEs competitors have more build diversity specifically in the survivability area.
With 12hrs of playing a day anyone can slap together a decent build. Heck, I had fun making my Poison Storm Rain build work this league, leaguestarted with a SCION. But I would never, ever try doing it again, because it took way too much time to achieve what some truly gimmicky builds achieve with half the currency and time invested....*cough* explode totems *cough*
if you think finding skill & item interactions is a 'gimmick' then you'd be much better off playing D3 or similar rpgs where skills and itemization is dumbed down beyond measure.

reminds me on how sanctum tries to teach players the very very basics of arpgs and specifically poe by making a whole league around the meme "just don't get hit, forehead".

Just don´t get hit, yeah what did most people play? Ranged builds, while Melees had a massive disadvantage.

If more damage can skip some mechanics in this game get have a shorter fight, it`s logical to strive for that.

replace thread title's "everything" with "streaming"

that's why things are the way they are, people just want your clicks and aren't making builds to last any longer than it takes for that to happen.

If you want change to happen, stop supporting those you call content creators who take advantage and only offer clickbait... and support the ones trying to educate and create builds that leave you informed on where to go and what to do not only in the current meta but in general.

No builds!? Its a literal build sandbox, its not possible.
