resolve needs to go
I think this is the first league mechanic that provided me zero rewards. I now totally skip the sanctum every map, not wasting the time for this bullcrap.

" Gain x Inspiration when you receive an Affliction is pretty useful considering how often they show up. I haven't found coins to be terribly important enough to specifically take relics with buffs to them, but the slower enemies and lower enemy HP boons are great buys if you can hoard some coin early before afflictions destroy your coins/merchants. Avoid Entombment on floor 4. |

I was really happy and hyped about sanctums, it looked really fun and challenging.
However in reality "fun" is not the word I would use to describe it for a melee build. Specifically cyclone. I completed the storyline ending Act 10 on level 58 and started maps with little to no problem. But sanctums, c'mon .... even after gearing at level 80 and testing with 39k evasion (nearly double what I need for 100% deli full juice!!!) ... and it is just depressing as hell. This league mechanic is totally broken for melee builds or builds requiring you to be face to face with the mobs to generate DPS. My buddies running walking sims have no problem, completing floor 1, floor 2 .... Was this properly play tested??? Level 80 , maximum room reached: 3 |

I'm playing a 2h axe Boneshatter build and I only made it to the end of the floor once and that was when I was leveling with Splitting Steel. One I switched to Boneshatter I've always failed on the 4th or 5th room on the first floor at best and usually 2nd or 3rd as normal. I picked melee because they more than hinted at it being ok for this league. It was not....I don't think resolve need to be removed but I won't complain if they do. Maybe having ways of regening resolve would be helpful and having our defences actually mitigate resolve damage.
As of now I just skip the mechanic. The best loot I've gotten was 3 alchemy orbs for picking it right now instead of something I had no chance of getting later.... Last edited by Danolyen#3613 on Dec 11, 2022, 10:25:04 PM

" Yep, that's pretty much it. I don't think that this resolve system can ever really work in PoE, a system like this that ignores most forms of defenses and heavily rewards being a high dps range character is just a giant F.U. to anybody want to simply build tanky character, without wanting to cheeze the game. SSF is not and will never be a standard for balance, it is not for people entitled to getting more without trading.

I tried the Sanctum in Ruthless SSF. My first attempt was a total and utter failure. In my second attempt I lost half my resolve in the first two or three rooms. Then I got lucky and got two fountains in a row and managed not to get hit on the way, so I was back to 300/300 with two rooms left. The next room had a "benevolent fountain" and that sounded real good to me. Again I made it there without getting hit. The fountain said something like "+200 to maximum resolve" and I thought "Yeah! Jackpot right before the final room!". I used the fountain and my resolve went from 300/300 to 300/500. (insert disappointed black man meme). Yes I know it said "to maximum resolve" but come on, it is completely useless this way. No matter, I thought "Nothing gained but at least nothing lost" until I remembered that I had a negative effect that said someting in the way of "lose more resolve when resolve is below 50 percent". So that "benevolent" fountain effectively lowered my resolve from 100 percent to 60 percent and of course the guy in the last room took me apart in seconds.

" Does the game NEED anything added or novel? Not really. But the 3 month cycle demands it. Be honest though, how much fun is it patch to patch stacking the same defensive layers on every character? Doryani's Prototype, recently deceased deep delving builds (and I guess you could argue Dreamfeather builds) are the only things really shaking it up. " They should have made offensive stats not matter in Sanctum, it would have been the perfect time to do it. This mode is begging to be a full on skill check, they should have leaned into it. I guess they have to keep some element of normal character progression mattering, or we'd never hear the end of the question 'why am I even bothering gearing up my character in maps??' |

How can ggg claim to slow down the game but keeps using timed mechanics.
Hopefully poe2 resets everthing we have seen for the last year or 3. Really liked the game but its the same thing, now im just finding ways to survive instead of kill. Combined with the xp loss, the reward isnt anywhere close to the effort Last edited by Chadwixx#5277 on Dec 12, 2022, 5:09:41 AM

" Very fun. I wouldn't play PoE if I didn't find building a character fun. Sure, new toys, updates on the passive tree, new uniques, new skills and a new league mechanic make it more fun. But a league mechanic that doesn't require defenses at all? I feel it's very misplaced. But again: I think most of my distaste for Sanctum/resolve comes from the fact that melee is being ignored again. They SERIOUSLY need to start respecting that some skills, for example strike skills, require a different approach when it comes to mechanics like this. To me, they seem clueless - and it almost seems like they have no idea about the handicap they are putting on you for chosing certain skills in the game, especially in Sanctum. In ten years, this is the most upsaet I've been about a league mechanic. And it's not because Sanctum is the worst mechanic ever, but it's BY FAR the most diversity-damaging mechanic ever. The only hope now, is that the league mechanic finally sheds some light on HOW much help melee really need. Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.

I was excited about new league mechanic, because Heist was great.
But... Completely agreed with all who complains about Resolve. It should go away ASAP, cause there are no reasons to play league without league mechanic. Pointless. |
