I had heard of Path of Math, saw a few videos of his, never followed him, never watched his Twitch stream...he was "just a dude". So I am not personally invested in his actual ban. However, as someone who has spent some real life Money on POE, this does bring up some concerns for some of us who are spending thousands of dollars supporting GGG by purchasing the supporter packs and MTX each month.
PoM has spent upwards of tens of thousands of dollars on POE. GGG will not refund any of that; lol. He has lost a good chunk of money. Now it is no secret GGG did not appreciate PoM's criticism of where POE is headed over the years. He is a vocal little angry dude; no doubt. But, I would also wager most GGG players are not either. Steam's rating of POE has gone way down to the very bottom reds; "Mostly Negative". Ghazzy was screaming at the top of his lungs just the other day, "FIX IT! FIX IT! FIX ITTTTT!" in his last video. Same with EmpyrianGaming, and so on and so on, there are tons of rage videos at GGG on Youtube.
However, the main issue I wanted to point out, I am worried about supporting GGG in the future, as we could lose all of the money we spent on the game in a flash because of an opinion we shared outside of this game we play. What if someone screenshots something I said about GGG or one of their employees on the TFT Discord? Will I be banned and lose all my Supporter packs and MTXs also?
And I am curious to know what other big spenders think about this. Are you comfortable spending a a significant amount of your annual gaming budget on Path of Exile going into the future? Genuinely curious.

Its kind of missing my point. Its a slippery slope to go down to keep banning words. Obviously most people agree that outright racist things are best avoided. Other words there is clearly quite a disagreement in society and I am more in favor of not banning words because you never know whats next.
What if he called Chris an out touch boomer and that triggered a ban? Not that I think it would have but its food for though.
I still wouldn't care. In my opinion you should have all the leeway in the world to criticize a service, design, vision, direction but that is not the same as insulting someone and serves no purpose towards any happy resolution or compromise.
This isn't the government, they don't have the same standards and I don't expect them to.
If he had kept himself to disagreeing with the direction of the game who cares, instead he decided to spew garbage out of his mouth.

Him not even being on their service is the issue. That's like going home from school calling your principle a cock while watching tv in your bedroom and being expelled the next day for it lol...

yes but he didn't say those things in anywhere that would break GGG's ToS they just went internet moderator power tripping mode and banned him because he hurt their feelings
He called Chris "bald" lol. Not going to lie, it was funny the way he kept saying Chris was bald, and how he kept saying it. Haha.
I am going to be at ExileCon. I am going to walk up to Chris (if I have the opportunity to0, shake his hand and call him bald to his face. Haha. I wonder if he will have security escort me out. That would be hilarious!
he called him worse things than bald to be fair
I watched all the clips and discord chats. He said two things:
1. He said Chris was bald.
2. He said Chris was losing IQ points for the direction he was taking POE in.
Let's be fair then, What else did he say?

Schools have fired teachers for things said outside of work.

I think you hit the nail on the head. For GGG to go out and find a forum they don't own or control, and pick something from there to ban someone in POE...that is the true issue. Not that POM the person was banned. I don't know him. He could be a decent person in real life, or the worst person imaginable. If it happened to him, it could happen to anyone.

I agree that being insulting in your feedback doesnt get anyone anywhere. It makes the person on the receiving end defensive and therefore much less likely to change their mind.
But the correct response to me would be to roll your eyes and disregard everything he said, not ban him.
And I am not arguing against GGGs right to ban him. As a private company they are fully within their rights to ban him, its the decision to ban I disagree with.

Okay, schools can discipline students for things outside of school. They probably wouldn't expel you for calling your principle a cock, but they might give you ISS or OCS.
https://www.njsba.org/news-publications/school-leader/november-december-2019-vol-50-no-3/it-didnt-happen-in-school-but-can-we-discipline/
Requirements for Disciplining Students for Off-Campus Conduct Schools in the state can impose discipline on students for conduct that occurs away from school grounds (when such discipline is consistent with the school’s code of student conduct) as long as the following two factors are met: (1) the discipline is reasonably necessary for the student’s physical or emotional safety, security, and well-being, or for reasons related to the safety, security, and well-being of other students, staff, or school grounds and; (2) the conduct which is the subject of the proposed consequence materially, and substantially, interferes with the requirements of appropriate discipline in the operation of the school. As a whale that spend 5$ on premium tabs, I will be very cautious about taking sponsorship from GGG and then calling people at the company names in live stream. At least that is what people claimed: that PoM did(taking GGG money) so was something like "freelancer" few times hired by GGG which can lead you to be held to higher standard than random guy who enjoys the game. (I did not verify these things myself for I do not care so deeply It is what i read in "why did PoM get banned" thread)
But I'll say that moderation is hit and miss in any place and be especially careful about places with very arbitrary nonspecific CoConduct, and you'll do better using reddit or twitter not only for negative but also positive feedback. Just read the very first rule in this forum "Make hateful or needlessly negative comments" That basically means that if you dislike minion changes or droprate you can be suspended if you mention it here. Because dislike is something negative, and what is needless will be up to faceless person with corporate logo for avatar that could really dislike you for voicing your opinion or discussing with other user. Another rule is "do not be deserving censure" but using shorter word for it:obnoxious, i gave you definition of that word. again something subjective. Combined It is basically free-pass for staff to get you even for this thread if they wanted.
But one can hope that as long as he does not do something extreme like calling staff members names in live stream, the suspensions will be more reasonably time-limited. But I can not say that you should be worry-free.
