The One Reason, I think PoE 2 may do better then Diablo 4.

So in D4, am I going to have to swipe my CC to get the loot at the end of a dungeon? If Diablo Immortal is any indicator as to how D4 will be, that game will never see my SSD.

Doubt it, DI was a mobile game at it's heart. So it was designed like a mobile game usually is. Honestly Blizzards biggest mistake was putting it on the PC. Literally nobody would of cared if they was that predatory if it was only on the phone. It's basic standard fair on the platform.

I dont think it will be as bad as DI (but anything is possible at this point), but P2W and official RMT are very likely, I mean look at their other big live service game, World of Warcraft, where you can swipe for as much gold as you want.

D4 is simply going to be another approach on Diablo Immoral.

They will not learn their lesson and Immoral is doing splendidly in markets where throwing money at a game to progress is perfectly legit and a part of the culture (re: Eastern) where your RMT is a social status thing, not something to be mocked (re: Western).

So even if PoE 2 **sucks** it will always beat out anything by modern Blizzard.
And yes, PoE 2 will truly suck, initially... probably for the first year or so post-alpha.

PoE 4.0 isnt a new game its an expansion. We wont be in "post-alpha" for a year. They are adding a campaign, and some mechanic changes. That's it. Core PoE is remaining, including a shared endgame.

D4 will absolutely be far and away a better game (generally speaking). The real question is will it provide retention and re-playability? What will live service / seasons look like?

You’re putting a lot of faith in blizzard. The best games are made by the passionate. Activision-Blizzard has the resources to make incredible cutscenes, hyper optimized and beautiful graphics, and super smooth gameplay and controls. That doesn’t mean they’ll produce something worth playing. The CEO of Activision is infamous for wanting to take the fun out of making games and Blizzard’s designs of late have looked more like they come from people phoning it in at the office than people who love the product they’re making and want to make it the best they can.
