Why is Mathil able to do everything that is impossible according to most of the complains here?
Now imagine if those carrots cost a specific kind of currency at the vendor, that you either had to target farm something for a random chance at a fragment, of a fragment.
Or just a one in size-of-the-Milky-Way chance to drop a whole carrot in the wild, randomly. Oh and I'm releasing a patch now, introducing a new kind of carrot and 10 new kinds of fragments. The existence of shit like Diablo Immortal or Lost Ark, makes things a lot easier to explain. You'd be the guy going "well... you don't have to go for Legendary Gems. Just stop playing at level 20". The fact PoE - thank Jesus - doesn't literally capitalize on the layered RNG and ridiculous goals and challenges in the game, doesn't mean said goals and challenges are fair in any shape or form. It's balanced around Streamers. Why? See my previous post. Alva: I'm sweating like a hog in heat Shadow: That was fun Last edited by johnKeys#6083 on Jun 20, 2022, 8:30:13 PM

" no. it accommodates dedicated players by having enough content to keep them busy for more than 2 days. it is not balanced around them, at all, what they do is not the intended way the game is experienced. the idea that the word streamers is used is absurd to start with when theres lots of streamers who are just pottering around doing noob level stuff right through to people earning multiple mirrors. most streamers are not part of the elite of this game, the actual elite players are doing stuff on a level 90% of streamers will never achieve. this whole word streamers is used to try and add a moral weight to the conversation, people want to use the word streamer rather than simply saying 'extremely good players' which is what they really mean because if they say streamers it makes it sound like the devs are using favouritism to give special treatment to individuals for immoral financial gain rather than putting it in the real terms of what theyre actually trying to say which is ggg balances the game around people who are extremely good at the game. which immediately loses all that fake moral outrage and rapidly falls apart because its obvious people who are extremely good at this game are playing a joke of a game thats basically godmode activated idiocy, theres no way the version of poe they are playing could ever be considered balanced. that there is some small amount of content at the top of the game that only elite players beat does not mean the game is balanced around them. it means the game acknowledges they exist and put something in there to give them a reason to play it, thats an entirely different thing. what people also need to realise is that content you cannot beat is there for you too, if you can do normal atziri but u cant do uber atziri then guess what? uber atziri existing is part of YOUR game because if it didnt exist you would have beat atziri, shes the end of the endgame, youre done. theres no reason to grind more, to be excited about getting upgrades, nothing to aspire to, no point in playing and working out a better tree, a better build, a better skill setup etc. the intended game state is that theres something beyond what uve done, theres gear beyond what u have and a boss beyond what uve beaten and if u get that next upgrade u can beat that next boss. that is the intended state of being in the game because that is the motivation to play. the existence of bosses you have yet to beat is a design factor for YOU, it doesnt mean the game isnt balance for you and its only balanced for people who beat that boss. they didnt make 6x t1 rare items super hard to craft because they only care about 'streamers' (ie people who dont stream but are way bigger dogs than actual streamers) who they balanced the game around. they were mortified when those people made 6x t1 items, that wasnt the intended balance at all. the intention was that you never get a 6x t1 item and that you always have that item thats better than your current gear that could in theory drop or be crafted. people need to stop pretending they dont get the concept that you are not supposed to complete everything and own everything and have the best of the best because it suits a desire to complain about stuff and be outraged. if you have mirror tier gear and you have beat all the hardest content then you are not who this game is balanced around. a lot of actual streamers know this. why do you think people play leagues? why are seasoned players playing in hardcore ssf leagues? because they recognise the game is not getting to the end, the game is the journey and they want as much journey as possible, they want to remain in a state where they dont have the best items and they havent beaten the biggest challenges for as long as they can. you dont see them in softcore standard league for exactly that reason. they could be there with 500 mirrors instaphasing the top content if they wanted an instead theyre levelling in ssfhc with blue items on in a new league because they understand the game is only fun and balanced when you dont have all the things and havent beaten all the content. most people play softcore and the game is obviously balanced around softcore now, if the game was balanced around people like ziz why are people like ziz forced to play ssfhc just to try and make the game fun and challenging for them for more than a couple of days? I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)

" People overestimate the RNG in PoE. Of course, if you're playing SSF, a game mode that the game isn't balanced around, you'd have real difficulties getting what you want, unless you play A LOT. But in trade league? The atlas passive tree and league mechanics always give you LOTS of ways to make currency. To progress. People focus too much on the rare "jackpots", and too little on all the small things you can do to improve your progression. "The game" is balanced around A LOT of different players. MOST parts of the game, are designed around "the average" player, while a tiny bit of the game is designed around dedicated players. "The game" is also balanced around an economy, and players should use it. Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.

@Phrazz, I abandoned SSF a long time ago. I also haven't played a League in over a year.
Are you telling me right now if I - an experienced player who first fought Hillock back in 2013 - just pick up the game, non-SSF, I can get somewhere beyond Kitava? Well let me ask a question: how much? How much time do YOU spend in game, chasing carrots? Going on websites that compare stats, passives and gear? Using planner applications and trade tools? If your answer is 26 hours a day, 8 days a week - congratulations, you are a "Streamer". It doesn't matter if you don't have a camera or a Twitch account. You're either professionally no-lifing the game for the carrot fragments, on and off the login screen, are insanely lucky to drop them whole, or both. @Snorkle, that definition of "Streamer" applies to you as well. You've got at least double my playing time. Regarding gated Uber or triple-Uber content - I agree it's for Streamers. But at the same time "normal" players should be able to at least attempt it. Being locked out of entire sections of the game, isn't a good experience. Some people want to get their *** kicked by Maven influenced Shaper. " Oh, there is a difference between a casual player and playing casually. LeBron James can goof around at a basketball camp but he can turn it on whenever he wants. Gutting Gameplay Gradually

Ok sure. Why don't we ask Mathil to do something harder like Winning the League of Legends World Championship title? He only need to git gud.

" Ever heard the saying, 'they make it look easy' when people talk about experts doing expert things effortlessly? The key word there is 'look'. When I was a child, I thought, and was told, anything was possible. That I could be anyone, do anything. Then when I grew up and became aware that most 'anythings' involved a lot of work and effort, I decided that while it was possible, it wasn't likely. And that's when you learn to appreciate expertise in others. What you're talking about when you say Mathil is 'super casual' is like looking at two masters of speed chess and thinking, 'oh, they're just moving pieces randomly and quickly, I CAN DO THAT!'...it completely misses what is actually happening. It's a superficial take of very little worth. I figure the rest of your post is predicated on mistaking Mathil (or any professional you'd like to emulate) for 'casual' just because he makes it look easy, and didn't bother reading it. Or the rest of the thread, so if someone's already said this, oh well. Then we're both right. The name says it all. Last edited by 鬼殺し#7371 on Jun 20, 2022, 9:42:29 PM

" when playing non projectile strike skills, the best way to play is to use a different skill. players must learn to adapt and understand that strike skills are not optimal. also the best strategy for doing multiple boss invites is to have a lot of movespeed, not stand still and probably burst bosses in a short time before the next one is released. " This. Many Olympians literally train for only 2 hours a day... do they call themself casual? No Many POE players play 12 hours a day and still call themselves casual? Umm.. no. That is a life commitment and takes serious dedication. No one that plays more than 2 hours a day regularly can call themselves a casual. Just because playing a PC game is fun and relaxing and you're not entering some competition doesn't mean you're automatically a casual. If you are committing serious time to the game then it's a commitment - it's much more than casual. |

can we stop labeling mathil as a professional, thanks
mathil is only a professional AS A STREAMER, not as a poe player. mathil is not the person you want to go do to ask for truly mixmaxing advice of any sort. i mean fuck it i was more of a professional at this game than mathil was... and no i wouldnt call myself a pro either ffs. mathils level of play in poe is barely higher than the average general discussion poster, aka a casual. |
