Why is Mathil able to do everything that is impossible according to most of the complains here?
" My friend I saw about 3~4 ex drop in the whole league, putting together everything I sold and traded doesn't come close to 30ex. I have no doubt that any casual would play the game as if they had the time to level 3 builds of 50 ex each. but the reality is that 90% of working people only have time for 1 (maximum 2) characters per league and they in large numbers will NEVER see more than 10ex and that's the point, PoE is an EXTREMELY elitist game with a barrier RIDICULOUS that drives away normal players and leaves here only those who can waste their lives playing or those who live playing. A complete college has an average of 3 thousand hours, there are people here who do half of that in a league, that is, every two leagues you throw 1 college AWAY. understand the problem with PoE? |

The game is definitely not balanced around the average player.
Personally I enjoy watching guys like Mathil, Pohx and Lighty a lot more than people like Empyrean or Cutedog. They are the working-class coal-mine alternative to Cutedog's spoiled-rich, selfies-on-a-yacht style. They struggle with the game just like the average player.... right?... or do they? Here's the thing - these are professional players, playing the game 24/7 as a career. So while watching Lighty find some insane tier-0 unique I couldn't find in almost a decade playing the game, is entertaining - it sure doesn't mean the game is fair towards the "with-life" player. Hell, a lot of the layered RNG in the game is one Blizzard would gladly grab into their greasy lootbox hands. It's that bad, as is. And GGG keep adding layers. Thank Tencent for not making them go the extra pay-for-it step, yet. So, is the game balanced around Streamers? Yes. Why? Because it keeps the publicity going and keeps the "muggles" chasing that carrot. Keeps us all hoping one day, one lucky roll of the layered dice, we too may experience true bliss. " with the hours they play they will be able to have way more than 10ex, they just dont have the game knowledge to make it happen. that is the point, its not impossible for them, theyre just not very good at the game and dont learn how to be better. and thats fine, you dont have to be good at the game, you dont have to want to improve and put in effort to be better. people can just exist at the level they are at and enjoy achieving whatever it is they achieve. the point the guy is making is that they are not being hard limited by the game, they are being hard limited by their own lack of game knowledge. I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)

According to Mathil, the difference is knowledge and the time it takes to gain that knowledge.
https://clips.twitch.tv/CooperativePiercingBarracudaBibleThump-SzLMdxrO1JR8vvnN Tarke Cat said that playing off-meta in the league wasn't that bad at all but he also said that was because he had 20,000+ hours in the game. He thinks that the off-meta/league would be rough for new players. I'm thinking that Mathil has 20,000+ hours in the game too so he makes it look easy. " I think you misunderstand what casual means. Casual is someone who logs in irregularly and plays a little bit here and there without too much care for beating the game. Mathil literally streams himself learning about the game. He thinks about shit for a very long time. He looks for all possibilities for his build. He looks for crafting ideas and methods etc etc etc. That is the complete opposite of casual. Because he wears a singlet and trackpants and doesn't just farm one thing over and over doesn't make him a casual. |

" I read this a lot, but I have no idea what it means. What is "the game"? Is it the entry level? Is it act 1-10? Is it white maps? Yellow maps? Red maps? Bosses? Uber bosses? And what the hell is "the average player"? Are some parts of the game balanced around dedicated players? Of course it is. That's the whole point of an endgame and "aspirational content". The game has always been - and will always be built around an "endless farm", where you ALWAYS have SOMETHING to improve. NO ONE in league has perfect items. Does that mean that the game is designed for no one? We don't need heaps of currency to play "the game". Sure, we need some currency to reach every level and beat every boss, but "the game" can be enjoyed without doing everything. You can even be rich by playing white maps. I'm genuinely curious here. Please help me understand. " You make it seem like a casual is someone who doesn't want, try or care to improve or be better. That is pretty sad, if you ask me. There are as many definitions of "casual" as there are people in the world. Don't center every argument you have around your, subjective definition of "casual". I've said this before: Some people are so hellbent on the idea that "a casual player can't succeed in PoE", and the moment someone proves them wrong by showing a casual player succeeding, they reply with: "Well, he's not a casual because of X". Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile. Last edited by Phrazz#3529 on Jun 20, 2022, 8:12:09 PM

" When was the last time you actually answered a question were you had to think? I ate several carrots yesterday; soft boiled with my steak. Even had some fried tomatoes, too. Made it myself. Yum! Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.
