Am I the only one who thinks that Path of Exile 2 is better than Diablo 4?

Bro, are you from the future?

Woah!
regardless D4 will take a big chunk of this community away and probably make the league dropoffs even sharper once released.

just facts

yea! only whales enclosed in bubbles are rooting for a good being and a bad being. I sincerely hope that Diablo 4 is a great game and that it gives me and my friends hours of fun and that it recovers the honor and history of this franchise that inspired so many games. In the same way that I hope that PoE 2 recovers its origin, it abandons these generic Korean game mechanics and the power creep that is killing PoE1, returning to being a paced, strategic game with fights and bosses that stay in our memory and bring us the feeling of triumph for defeating them and not that it's just boses I enter a PURELY mechanical fallguy type scavenger hunt for in the end the generic enemy explodes like a pinata of currencys which is basically what we have in the game today

Honestly while both are aRPGs and have a similar feel asthetically, they are very differetn games and really target different players. Obviously there is plenty of overlap.

POE is a complex game that is not easy for casual players or newbs. There are many layers of complexity to build your characters that Diablo does not remotely come close to. That gives it MANY more options and builds that you can do, from the basics to the very off the wall meta.

This both brings something that you can't get anywhere else as well as limits the accessibility to a wide player base. It will never have mass appeal due to that.

Diablo games are much easier to get into and much less complex. You do not have to be a very good gamer to play them. It is much more casual gamer friendly thus brings much more mass appeal than POE ever will. Even with D3, which is a pretty crappy Diablo game, it has/had a much larger player base.

Oh, and that was just comparing the game play. Once you get to marketing power, Diablo/Blizzard have a huge marketing advantage and that is something you will never see POE match. Even with Tencent behind them, you will never see the marketing that Blizzard has done for Diablo.

So even if D4 is a boring game like D3, it will have millions buy and play it. It is just the way it is. The only thing that would seriously hurt it is if Blizzard goes back on their latest word and does indeed make it P2W.

Playing the Devil's advocate (no pun intended) i think you underestimate the amount of potential overlap.

From the D4 dev's journeys it can be understood that character customization in D4 seems to be on par with Grim Dawn, that's a big step up from D3 and the most complex Diablo game to date. Itemization remains to be seen but it will obviously be inferior to POEs complexity.

What i personally fear (from POE's point of view) is that D4 nails the character customization well enough and then with the diversity of gameplay(Open world, PvP, World bosses, i.e fresh experience) combined with the impressive graphics/engine creates a snowball effect where most streamers/avg players heavily gravitates towards it.

If that ever happens the other arpgs including PoE2 would try to survive in its shadow possibly for years to come as it seems Acti-blizz is hellbent on supporting it and monetize the game for a long time (which means steady content updates).

On the bright side (from POE point of view) Blizzard has to prove themselves and has not really produced anything worthwhile for years, a too aggressive p2w model could likewise drive away many players from D4.

It's understandable that players have strong opinions regarding D4/Blizzard but (what i've gathered from all the available information so far) it's shaping up to be a good arpg game, thus we shouldn't underestimate the dangers of player overlap when the reasons for picking one game over the other becomes less apparent for the avg PoE player and as a result how quickly the tables could turn.

"facts" when most people who playe PoE hate on Blizzard and anything they make. PoE playerbase is not interested in Diablo. Some people will go test it since its new and shiny and they will be back after a month nax.
I'm not sure about either one now. In late 2019 when PoE2 was announced, they couldn't be touched. Then D4's trailer came out and i was...interested but that was about it. It wasn't until the 4 quarter update this past December that got me excited for D4, but since DI came out who fucking knows what we'll game we'll get. And since 3.15 with poe and the hype for poe2 again...who knows at this point. Both devs are so all over the damn place they can't just give people want they want, be honest, and thrive. It seems to be greed, hubris, and everything in between fucking decisions up.
GGG refuses to embrace the game people enjoy for the most part and D4 can't stray away from it probably being just like d3 but 'darker' but characters will be flat, boring, items will be no different and there will be no replay assuming the end game is even good.
Are you the only one that thinks one unreleased game is better than another unreleased game? Quite possibly.
is there any real POE player who cares about D4 .... ? seriously ......
learning is a painful process ... knowledge is the most deadly weapon.
