The death of PoE is near. Diablo 4 is coming in 2023, before PoE 2!
Sure at launch D4 will have more hype and more Players just because of the Name.
I hate to break it to you, but Blizzard has pretty much abandoned every Game that has no subscription or makes a lot of money through in game purchases like hearthstone. Sooo... we will probably see pay 2 win in some form or the game will launch, make money, make money again with one Expansion and then die like d3. I never said poe2 will have more Players at launch. You are right Diablo is much simpler and therefore targets a broader audience, but thats also true for D3 compared to PoE right now. Doesnt make it more succesful anymore right? Thats what i mean. "In the long run" not in the honeymoon hype Phase. And i'm sorry but i dont have enough copium to believe that it will be any different with D4 than with any other Blizzard Game right now. " D4 is not D3 and the times have changed dramatically, back then Blizzard had a solid reputation and could afford to mess up Diablo (which they did in so many ways hence why PoE became the number 1 online arpg). D4 is a very different beast though, and be assured they will monetize it long past launch with all kinds of microstransaction and content, but hopefully not too much p2w stuff that could prove catastrophic for player retention. As for simplicity it seems from the Dev's journals D4 is going to have the complexity levels of Grim Dawn, which is more than enough for a Diablo game and hence one of the reasons it is a more threatening(when it comes to overlap) game for PoE than the childish/simple D3 ever was. Ehm... they cant afford it? It doesnt look like they even care about their Reputation anymore. They just released Diablo Immortal. A 0 effort Game with tile Sets from D3 and super scammy p2w monetization.
Oh yeah D3 also looked great before launch. I remember how excited i was for the Arena PvP that was promised. Dont get me wrong. I was a Blizzard Fanboy for a very long time. I played D2 for like a Decade and WoW for pretty much the same time but this is not the same company anymore and i ran out of copium a long time ago. " We knew immortal was going to be p2w since it was designed for the $$$ phone market(and then converted). Back to D4, from everything they have shown recently and the info revealed in the dev journal's D4 looks like a really solid game at this point, it has clearly improved a lot from the early alpha back in 2019, from art/graphics/engine/gameplay etc and team behind is seems passioned, my only real concern is the itemization at this point. I I can understand your sentiments, blizzard certainly has a lot to prove but i feel confident that D4 will do well once it releases next year. P.S. as for PvP hopefully they learned their lesson from the D3 backlash and community outcry, hence why there was a dev journal iirc dedicated to explain how exactly PvP is going to work in D4(like seen in the recent 2023 announcement video). Blizzard is the best at promoting things. I wonder how long it will take this time for people to realize that it was just all talk and they've been lied to (again).

Have you seen the monetization in DI?
Even for a Phone Game thats too much. Its misleading on purpose and only designed to get the most money out of you. If you havent seen the whole thing yet watch some videos about it. Its disgusting and sorry i am not fine with the "oh its just a phone game" argument. That the phone game Market is more used to this kind of monetization doesnt make it any better in my eyes. If we are all fine with this its just a matter of time and we will see the same shit in PC Games. | |
" The monetization of DI is so unethical that devs of other phone game companies spoke openly about how bad it is. Its so bad that it makes other gatcha games look reasonable and ethical in comparsion. " I believe it when I see it. Grim Dawn is actually complex and deep. I doubt a company that aims to sell its product to as much people as possible will have a system that is complex enough that most players need a guide to be able to actually play the game. " Not a lot of monsters on the screen and it feels suuuuuuper slow. Is this early game or does engame look like that? It feels slow and empty compared to D2 or grim dawn. Like im not expecting PoE levels of monster crowds. |

" Ah yes, screen clutter, zooming, and screen popping mobs. PoE, where you cant see anything happening, all the loot is filtered out, and you just hope for currency drops. What a time to be alive. "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt."
