The fundamental issue with AN is not that people are not adapting to it, it's that it is completely over-tuned to the point even people with a fuck load of dps are having issues with it, in a stablished meta that it's better to kill everything fast than waste time building defenses.
Now defenses are not worth building, they are mandatory. 84% of all build in poe.ninja had Determination at one point. And even then, people complaining that they were getting one shot. The only reason there's less now is because most just fucked off to play something else. It's become a game of "how much armor can i stack". It's as diverse now as a buffet that only serves pasta. And i won't even touch on how they managed to make melee even shittier than before. I don't mind a game being hard. With sufficient investment, a build should be immortal. But when 100k ehp characters still dies like flies, it only tells me i have to stack even more dps and accept i'll die from random encounters. Ruthless should be [Removed by Support].

It is ironic how PoE slowly introduces things D3 did: with removal of attack dodge and making spell dodge harder to cap, defenses have pretty much blended together into "just stack plain % damage mitigation on every kind of character", and difference between viable characters as a whole also diminishes.

i die all the time to the following lighting spikes, they jump on top of you offsceen and you cant see where the mob with the mod is, and just die, specially in delve, its the dumbest mod, totally unbalanced and nothing you can do as a player to avoid or counter it

Archenemy would be fine if it made fights like interesting. Essentially all they did was number increases.... boring, dangerous even. Marginal builds may not be able to deal with resist capped cons monsters at all. But "bad" or unoptimal builds aside, all it really did was push people into armor, molten shell, and fat fat damage stacking as an easy solution. This means armor getting Hella nerfed. Sure a problem exists in the way players have been conditioned to play a certain way, sure; however I feel like this game gets so very little out of min maxing so much.
Like try playing es without a shield and not the best mods and the game just starts to feel numerically impossible. Most es builds use tft mirror level ultra maga crafts to make Ludacris levels of es. If GGG wants to keep arch, it is going to need like two years of fixes. And they need to fix every outdated pos thing about the game like the passive tree, jewels, skills, melee backswing,monster shotgunning, ailment calcs, asendancy passive, event timers, the campaign, monster attack ai(it bad), the portal system, crafting, drops. You know basically everything. |
