How come no one mentioned Inxile?
They made: Wasteland(which was basically original fallout game)
new Torment and it is hard to get any more classy than that.
Best part is that they make new episodes of these games, and they are real good.


But I'll go with Stygian Software (they made UnderRail) which is the only game that matches quality of olden' turn based games and has great writing n quest progression.

When it comes to multiplayer games, GGG is up there. PoE is like fifth best multiplayer game that i know of.

Space Station 13 is number 1 best game ever created but has no "developer" to speak of. But developers.

Well, no it really doesn't because in one very brief sentence you've sort of shown why it doesn't work. If 'you', being an adult, 'want to hear others', you don't really state what you think is best couched in a stance of 'and no one else can be right unless they agree with me'.

Anyway, it hardly matters. We know she can be very immature and that this thread is clickbait/I'MBOREDWHERE'SMYNEXTLEAGUE attention-seeking...but we also know she's an adult, because the minimum age to play PoE is 16 and she's been here for at least ten years, as have I. Hence my sentiment: maybe it's meant to be charming, but it just comes across as depressing.

Also, I named what I think is a better developer: OhNussy. Although he's a who (solitary Japanese developer), not a what. He makes deceptively deep low-resource mobile/web games that combine dungeon crawling with the rogue-lite structure. I'd say his most popular, Buriedbornes, has something of a cult following. Unlike most mobile f2p games, BB has both an offline mode and dungeon-modifying seasons with unique rewards, and it's buy anything once to remove ads (like 2 bucks). I have gotten hundreds, maybe thousands of hours of play out of that 2 bucks. I think I bought a class skin or two along the way to support the guy (the price in-game is in yen, which I DO find charming). He regularly updates even the English version. It's very clear he's stupidly passionate about the job and cares deeply about the playerbase for it.

All the aforementioned are why, to me, OhNussy is a better developer than GGG, who sold out and lost the fire years ago -- which just means they're a far better *business* than some lone Japanese dude making hardcore mobile rpgs, and honestly I don't think there was a time when GGG wanted to be a good developer more than a good business. It's just that the former was the path to the latter.

But as I said, the whole thing is moot: my better, your better, I_NO's better. They're going to be different, because they're just opinions. You asked mine; there it is. I play a lot of games from a lot of different developers, and right now probably more from Ubisoft than anyone else (if we ignore Wolcen Studio, who also sold out but more in a 'well what do we have to lose' kind of way). I couldn't fucking care less what they're like as developers in an operational sense; I enjoy the games. The rest is irrelevant UNLESS (and again, this is a personal threshold) they're caught breaking the law, mass abusing staff (above and beyond the already abysmal working conditions for most game dev staff), or any other factor that would make it hard for me to distance dev from game. So far, not the case.

There are just so many ways to answer this question. If it's not limited to just current developers, then from a historical perspective, I think it's hard to beat Blizzard North for what they did during the time period they developed when using just about any measuring stick.

There are just too many measuring sticks to really give a definitive answer. GGG really sets a high bar for delivering new releases. If that were the measuring stick, GGG would be near the top for me. But with that speed, performance and polish do take a hit. So many who feel the latter is important will never put GGG at the top. I personally like the constantly changing game, so it certainly puts GGG in the top tier for me.

The new/different Blizzard does a good job with smooth combat. I'll give them that. What they lack in game depth and agility of development, they make up for in game performance and general polish -- with a specific focus on D3 for that comment. I've not played WoW or other major games.

I also don't play a lot of games, so my opinion is like asking a toddler who their favorite philosopher is.

There isn't a universal answer to the question of course. You might as well ask the community to name a color that is better than blue.

Of course it works you can say what's best and still want to hear what other think is best, the adult part is how you disseminate the information not how you state it IMO.

Its a classic plenty of mature things are said in an immature way. I read a quote yesterday along the lines of "even a dumpster gets a steak" and i'm still laughing about it.

There are plenty of people who will state an opinion, read others then go think about it for themselves and come back with a different one in the future as well not all change is quickly and very little change is acknowledged.

I've already enjoyed some of the champions other posters have chosen there are some good suggestions in here its got value it might just not have value to you specifically though i don't really believe that.
