Name a better developer than GGG.

the things blizzard is good at are the things ggg blows at. aka common sense and qol things. the actual gameplay of blizzard games is pretty shit but they're at least pretty polished

Ehhh they definitely aren't good at common sense, they are reasonable at QoL they are the best at polish it was their primary selling point to establish their reputation in the mid years.

Unfortunately they went too far off the deep end off polish where they never stop polishing and actually release something :p

As far as overall developers go you really can't rate blizzard highly unless you have weird metrics, they have substantially more resources than average and produce substantially less.
Best indy studios IMO in regards of how successful. Iron Gate and Re-Logic.

They may not have updates every 3 months but the base game (of their main products) in itself is so good that it speaks for itself and does not need a defibrillator like PoE every 3 months.

Imagine PoE if it gets updates every 6 months or longer. Player numbers would dive even below Grim Dawn. That tells me that the basegame gets old very fast and uninteresting since its a themepark game for the most part , even considering all past league mechanics and atlas stuff that give more options.

Masterpiece of 3.16 lore
"A mysterious figure appears out of nowhere, trying to escape from something you can't see. She hands you a rusty-looking device called the Blood Crucible and urges you to implant it into your body."

Only usable with Ethanol Flasks

Changes are a double-edged sword though. I can name a half dozen changes in the past couple years the game could've done without.

1. Spell suppression
2. New Bleed
3. Global magic damage buff that makes the 1st a requirement.
4. Sunder
5. Harvest
6. Heist

Likely a lot more too. Melee is in such a bad shape because the defensive node invest on starters is bad. That started down the path of all the defensive "overhauls" we got.
BLIZZARD, BUNGIE

As I said before, GGG was a good company, still far from a Blizzard (nort) or a nintendo. Too bad it's over and now all that's left is the Tencent who ends up with everything she puts her hand to.

Is it just hip and cool to be anti-establishment?

One thing that make me laugh as a programmer is the majority of players categorize everyone working in a game as a developper lmao while within the industry developper means generally a programmer and we are like the bottom of the food chain right after "Testers" .

When the game is boring and UI suck its not the developper's/programmer's fault, its the creative director/game designer that sucks :P
