Using skills requires you to stand still. This is bad.
" Or if not a passive, then maybe a reserved mana buff like Tempest Shield that simply stays active? I could see the benefit of reserving mana to run faster, but in contrast, recasting it all the time gets annoying. |

I kinda agree. I'd like more ability to escape. Not necessarily moving while attacking, but more like skills that let you get out of poor situations better. Even a keyboard movement shortcuts would be great.

" Agree. The Secret World went for gameplay rather than animations. So people can move while using skills. Thats prioritizing the most important thing, gameplay. Unfortunatelly this is one of the things that must be decided in the drawing board, not too close from commercial beta. "It feels like holding my breath under water constantly." Honestly..this will cause no change, whatsoever, to the difficulty of the game..nor the overall gameplay.
Why? The AI of the monsters are designed to take in account the fact that in order to use spells and skills you must be standing still. It isn't needed. So it really, in the end, comes down to preference. The AI would be changed either way to help fit that preference. For me I prefer the stop to fire gameplay. And hope they keep it that way. If you like the attack while moving gameplay..thats fine..but do realize actually implimenting that would make it so the AI needs to be reworked..completely..in order to make it so the game keeps the same level of difficulty (it'd prob lower otherwise). I tend to be a very opinionated and brief poster. Due to this I often come across more hostile than I really am, sorry bout that. Also my train of thought is odd, something I just forget to post needed information, or assume its already known.

Being able to cast spells and shoot while running, would ruin game balance completely.
Meet any melee. Just run and gun. They can't catch up anyway. "That's how you die properly, Sailor Boy.."

" ORLY? Look at Bloodline Champions. Its more action gameplay, then classic D2. |

" .... Without completely overhauling the entire game he is correct. Stating that another game uses this effectively is not an argument. I you want to circle strafe people while using all ur skillz go play 'insert random MMO here' |

Bear in mind that TB's opinion doesn't really stand here, because he doesn't like the genre. The first game in the genre he really enjoys is TL2, and he played it after that video, and it's the same as PoE, except the recovery times of actions are much, much lower. You still need to stop to do anything. It's in the core of the genre.
What he seems to want is a dual-stick shooter, like Alien Swarm, and this is not how a game like this should work. Then again, the recovery time of many skills is too long and needs to be shortened, because using the knives aoe skill with the shadow is simply a bad idea because of the too long recovery time - you die if you use it in a crowded place. Bear in mind that TB is a guy whose opinions sound a lot like facts, that's why he has to state over and over again that he is not necessarily right. Games were better when devs didn't listen to player feedback.

I like TB but he gives a lot of incorrect info and the people that listen to him take every word that comes from his mouth as fact. You still have to stop in TL2 to cast or shoot or attack. The entirety of the game is just much faster than PoE. In regards to cast speed versus D2, you need to go play it again. You have to be geared the hell out to get good cast speed. Just try wearing enigmas as an amazon and then come back and tell me casting is much faster. You may as well run around rather than teleport.

" Nah because people would move slower then most mobs when going backwards while still facing targets. Thats what happens in all those games that allow you to aim and shoot. Whats those games do though, is that if monsters cant actually hit players, they become invulnerable, regen life back to 100 and go back to spawn point.
