Using skills requires you to stand still. This is bad.

The fact that you have to stand still in order to use skills has been bugging me since I joined the beta. This is actually growing increasingly annoying the more I play and this really needs to be addressed as it pretty much single-handedly *destroys* combat.

Since the concept of what I am talking about can be kind of hard to understand I let this guy do it!

Characters can only do one action at a time. If I remember related dev posts correctly, that's pretty much set in stone.

The character can only be actively performing one action at a time. That's really fundamental to how the game engine is designed, and I don't think it would be possible to change it at this point. I am certain it would be far, far more work than any benefit we would get from it.

Well, I had no problems with this in D2, and I have no problems with this in PoE. I cannot understand how this would "destroy" combat, as you claim.

Diablo 2 allows you to run and shoot. it is actually part of the combat mechanic. some spells you can shoot on the run like frost orb and some you can't like bonespear.

in PoE all abilities/skills/spells/whatever require you to stop, wich is kinda silly on skills like phaserun and stuff thats usually goes to LMB/RMB.

That's simply incorrect. Any skill in Diablo 2 requires you to stand still while using/casting it, including Frozen Orb. Frozen Orb was just that slow that you could run around while it was still flying after you casted it. Just like you can run around after having casted a Firestorm in PoE, while the Firestorm is still in effect.

well ok, it is a bit more complicated in diablo 2.

that doesn't change the argument, though.
Still does not change that you need to stop to use any skill. ;)

What GGG could do is speed up the casting animations I suppose, so you do not stand still for as long.

In many MMOs, you can attack while moving. This is what destroys combat in my opinion, animations have no impact at all if they don't use legs.

When I saw this in SWTOR for example, I already knew I wouldn't ever play that game, people are just running in circle while hitting, it looks ridiculous.

It could work for ranged skill without looking bad but then I agree with Mark, too much work for a small benefit.

There's something that might be doable with less effort, it's called animation cancelling, it would make combat more fluid. It's still a lot of work though, while messing up with the game balance in the mean time^^

Is there not faster cast rate/increased attack speed mods in Path of Exile?? I have not played enough to see. If there is not then they should add them. I know I find the combat a bit on the slow side, mainly do to how slow the animations are in general.
