Why people dont play on hardcore?
I ve been playing HC since beta, hitting several 97s and 98s.
Every character on my profile in standard except for 2 used to be on HC... until they werent. Only 1 level 98 char survived the journey, sadly never hitting 100 in HC. I stopped playing HC and will not come back because the game is no longer fun in HC, the economy is not much better and it has become impossible to not die to certain mechanics, esspecially new ones. For example i have not yet managed to do Exarch deathless because i die to the fireball phase every time becaue im a movement moron. For comparison I have done the hidden, the twisted, the formed, Überelder, Sirus and many more deathless several times this league. But Exarch fireball phase ive died MANY times, same with Maven memory game. Since these mechanics exist, HC is unplayable for me. Im not willing to lose my characters over some wanky mobile game mechanic. Also my impression of the HC playerbase in the recent years has been that it is 90% newbies. It is impossible to buy certain items I need for my builds because no one is doing endgame content. Endgame items themselves dont sell on HC trade or way to cheap, while starter items and leveling gear is insta sell. Ashes of the stars with any roll is 4ex on HC trade, this is unreasonable since the item is a common drop and Eater is the easiest boss of them all. This is not fun and not a good economy, HC just sucks. Im having a lot of fun in SC, since I hit level 98, im basically playing HC because dying actually hurts a lot now. So dont expect anyone to come back to HC ever again. Its dead and will stay dead, the only HC gamemode that is still a little bit alive is HC SSF. HC trade will never be alive again. Just because I'm paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get me. Last edited by KalHirol#0543 on Feb 21, 2022, 9:25:51 AM

" That is the lamest mechanic I've seen in this game. Seen streamers do it, and they justify it by saying dumb things like "it works". I played HC long ago in the beginning of the game, when Piety was the end boss and later Dominus. Died twice to lag, first time in just some random server lag in Act 2 and another time in Beyond opening those rifts. Won't play it again after that. Too unpredictable. And the game is even more rippy now without that lag. I cant imagine dealing with some one-shot end game mechanics. Last edited by MrSparkle001#1624 on Feb 21, 2022, 10:01:38 AM

Because hardcore players for the most part are not hardcore, they are soft core players desperate to have something to lord over "soft core" players, and they constantly cry about every little non issue.

Cause my greed or misunderstanding of systems leads me to making dumb mistakes or chances.
I can tell you I'd probably die before act 5. |

Without the ability to insta-pause the game and given the unstable nature of the game client itself, that kinda limits me to either something like RF/minions or playing "baby mode" when you simply can't die. And no, logout macro isn't a solution at all, more like a cheat code which pretty much deletes the "hardcore" part of hardcore.

" You forgot to mention the biggest reason why people probably do not play HC: It´s the disrespect of time-investment. If I leaguestart like a maniac, play 1 week 14h/d, and then more casually onwards, I quickly get 200 hours on a character - which are GONE the second it dies. I can never wrap my head around how masochistic people have to be to accept that and just create a new one, but combined with the less build-diversity and the fact that it sometimes is not even your fault u die with reposition-serverlags, kicks, freezes etc I could never ever swap to HC fully. I participate in the gauntlet event as an additional challenge and get there roughly through the campaign (haven´t managed it completely, but played to 85 in a HCSSF Delve Event), Ill take those extra challenges. But playing an entire league like this? Na, I rather stop PoE alltogether. |

Have fun starting over when you inevitably die.

I used to play hardcore only between 2012-2016 even on my toaster pc where i was getting 20 fps but i got tired of one major thing and its dying to d/c game crash or something wich is just not your fault when i imagine that you have maxed your character and spent like 200 hours on your character juss to die to d/c is just depressing and literally waste of time not to mention in hardcore there are so much more less items on the market you cant buy in bulks league mechanics currencies cuz theres just so few sellers out there so i just moved to s/c and never have regreted it

Because i like dying 1000 times on a character in softcore. hardcore on poe is not even playable, what a question

Been playing for a long time, and the simple reason is I'm just not good enough. Nearly 7k hours in the game and I've never made it through the acts without dieing. I did however try hardcore league once back in 2014 or so......I died at Hillock and said it's not for me.
