Lost Ark is POE Killer

I just don’t get the same feel. Skills feel extremely clunky in LA, and often don’t require much combo or skill to use. Dodging boss content that’s dangerous is as simple as pushing a space bar and aiming. You get warnings.
You can theoretically improve stats forever by consuming stat elixirs.

I can definitely empathize with your Poe sentiment because when set up on finished builds, it does feel like pushing 1-2 buttons. The best builds push more, but okay builds don’t.

But… the resets are part of why I keep coming back to Poe. Imagine how newcomers to LA will feel when the game is 3 years old, and older players have consumed over500 stat elixirs and gear is maxed to the hilt. Resets are good for new players. They’re good for old players too. The reason most games fail is game maturity.

What do you mean ? As far as i know pvp ( i don't pvp ) is equal playing field. Doesn't matter how much stat elixirs someone has or how good his gear is. They all have the same stats. You only select out of a pool of skills you want to use. So there will be no advantage over new players besides the knowledge and skill level.

And for PVE.. since specific content is locked behind specific item level of your gear new players will get there in time and than it doesn't really matter how good someone else gear/stats are. I played this POE league for five days, got LA in early access and i am pretty much hooked on that game right now. Once you hit 50 the game opens up and you don't really know where to start, what to do because there is so much to do.

It's also the first game in a long time , were i woke up in the morning and realized i am not in my bed, i was sleeping on the desk, my head on the keyboard.

Not saying this POE league is bad.. i love the atlas changes and the league mechanics were OK , but LA is new right now and that's where i am having fine right now. Something that I was missing in POE the last three leagues.
1.) Lost Ark doesn't feel like it's a daily job, or a science project, it feels like an actual game
2.) It has a rich culture, style and art
3.) It's not overwhelming or bloated, you don't have to read manuals
4.) It has community build suggestions literally in your skill tree
5.) Don't have to alt tab to 3rd party website to buy items
6.) There's not gambling and loss of progression (like when you fail to 6-link, losing 3-4 days of work/grinding because of a bad roll...)
7.) COOP is amazing and encouraged
8.) Endgame is amazingly better
...
...
it's so much more, so much better, 1 million concurent players in a week, that's more than POE did in a decade, it's an instant smash hit.

I invited a few friends at the start of the expansion/league to play POE, and there was a problem where some of them got banned by automation, literally few days in, after a few emails back and forth with support, we all took a pause, tried Lost Ark, and basically, I don't think I logged in the game since I tried it.

If you don't think POE isn't P2W, try playing endgame maps and crafting without a map tab, currency tab and premium tabs to sell your stuff.
I'll probably come back next season to try POE again, but for now Lost Ark is just so much more, way ahead of POE.
Tabs are NOT P2W. They're pay. You don't "win". You get something for money. But you don't pay $5/week to use your tabs. Someone with $100 in tabs is just as well off as someone who has spent $1000. Calling tabs P2W in the same sense as LA does is lying.

LOL, you need buy much tabs stash for turn rich trader in this game, and have more new tabs type in per new leagues. it is P2W.

So if people can tell me that this "gear score" number doesn't affect drops, and isn't just this stupid "chase number" you have to chase all throughout endgame, than I might try Lost Ark.

It doesn't necessarily affect drops. Your gear score just unlocks the next "tier" of content, which, coincidentally, drops gear with higher gear score. It's also super convenient to transfer all the upgrades from your previous gear to your newly dropped gear.

Gear, your main gear giving you your gear score, doesn't have random stats like PoE and WoW gear does. The only variable is in the quality level of the gear. Basically, you get Tier 1 stuff and start upgrading it. Next run you get another piece of Tier 1 that maybe has 20 more quality on it. You go to the upgrade guy and transfer your stats from the previously upgraded gear to your higher quality gear. It costs some silver. Maybe a few thousand at most. At level 50.5 and gear score around 500, I'm sitting on 1.5 million silver so the cost is negligible.

This game is a marathon. If you like continuous progression with a bunch of stuff to do to boost your character power, LA is it. Now, if you are a sprinter and like to get to endgame and gogogogogo, then maybe not. It's meant to play long term.

It's also F2P so there's no harm in trying it.

Its fine if you like it but its also fair to point out it has literal daily quests and weekly quests that are time/repetition/reset gated that you're meant to do or you WILL fall behind, fall behind enough and friends/guildies will be well past your gear score and thus you will be locked out of content they are doing unless they have alts parked at your gear score. Now in fairness a lot of people will have alts and probably some of them will be neglected and thus at your gear score. But overall I would say its highly inaccurate to say the game doesn't have any daily job aspects.

EDit: its also fair to point out they have "catchup" mechanics for people who have less time to play in the form of double rewards up to a point if you miss some dailys but I'm just sayin LA is not without "jobification" or daily expected playtime.

"It has a rich culture, style and art"

The art anmd graphics are very good... But it has an insanely cringy anime and generic fantasy trope and cliche filled story which leads you by the nose, with some forced cutscenes because they were so proud of their generic tropes you are required to watch them in a few dozen cases.

The early dungeons feel exactly like "semi interactive amusement park rides" more like some animatronic disney creation than a scary threatening dungeon.

Its otherwise got everything you would expect in an MMO that is trying to appeal to the masses... cute fuzzy things, 12 year old boys wet dream versions of female characters, lingerie armor, gear score, fluffy, bright, spikey colorful everything. Guns and rockets along side swords and spells... I mean pick a lane ffs.

"3.) It's not overwhelming or bloated, you don't have to read manuals"

This one is so untrue.

From the very start you are flooded with tons of nonsensical collectables, grenades, cards and card packs, Mokoko seeds, sheet music, chests with tons of junk in them you have no idea what they're for, there's treasure maps, and things you're supposed to give to whatever NPC you want to be your waifu (there are literally dozens if not more of these items), there's like 24 or 30 some items I have no idea why they are in my inventory AT ALL, and do not say what they're for. Then there' Roster XP, there's multiple types of collectables I've not even listed here. there's silver, and ancient gold, and three different crystals, there's potions and grenades that you're meant to not use until end game (and you want to hoard them and not experiment with them) so many things you have autopicked up that have no intuitive or well communicated function. BUT ALSO DON'T SAY WHAT THEY DO... A hundred different tool popups, and there's an Alt+Keyboard key combo for almost literally every key on your KB that brings up a menu/inventory/interface for a different thing.

4.) It has community build suggestions literally in your skill tree

Thats cool but lets not pretend that 3 choices at X level, and then 3 more choices at Y level and than 3 more choices at Z level are "builds" the combat is fun and fluid and is straight up better than POE's combat in almost every regard (Pacing, time to live, connectedness, impact of blows, tactical positioning, visual signaling... honestly visual signaling should have been the first thing I mentioned, its superlative)

5.) Don't have to alt tab to 3rd party website to buy items

Sure, but its got a UI that feels like a mobile cash shop even when you're not in its very mobile cash shop.

It also has a classic K-MMO Bot and speculator dominated auction house, that appears to be just as bad as the bot dominated AH for BDO... which means: hope you like competing with micro-flipping indexing automated "cartels" that own everything significant within the next few weeks.

6.) There's not gambling and loss of progression (like when you fail to 6-link, losing 3-4 days of work/grinding because of a bad roll...)

this is mostly true, that said the lottery in honing gear is just a more protracted slow burn.

7.) COOP is amazing and encouraged
8.) Endgame is amazingly better

Both fair. Though I will say this, if you're anything like me, to get to that endgame is going to require a tanker truck of copium...

"the combat is good... just keep your eyes on the next combat and SPAM THE G KEY... OH NO... NOOOOO THE CRINGE... I HAVE A CRINGING CHEST WOUND... I CAN'T... oh its over... thank fuck... okay next combat"

Just spam the G key through the next 4 NPC's *COPIUM*

BTW I am someone who doesn't mind leveling a character in POE even occasionally want to do so.

Sure its a mass consumer MMO, trying to throw as wide a net as it can. Its got 750,000 F2P looky loos most of whom already lookylood at POE at different times. Its already declining massively as all post launch online games do. I saw someone talking about how its retention arc is almost exactly the same curve as New Worlds (or the arc for most POE leagues for that matter).

Its got really good combat and there's a meaty end game, glad you enjoy it, its definitely got some things over POE and thats a good thing, its competition for GGG to learn from. But its also going to cringe away a lot of "grim dark" loving ARPG players, and the 2Headers who think its not an ARPG and wont play it just because of that of course... I'm sure LA will be competition though there's enough crossover that GGG should be looking at it, playing it, and asking themselves how POE can be improved.

(hint Time to live, visual signaling/clearity and combat pacing/fluidity)

Thats only a good thing.

Pandering to players who don't want consequences for their mistakes is a perfect description of what went fundamentally wrong with D3 and 4.
If they wanted mindless mobile game time waster gameplay they sure did make some perplexing choices and marketing statements for 6 fucking years.

Jesus christ dude, jesus christ, it's just better, it feels like a game, we like it, 1 million concurent players every day like it. Dude don't get too invested in 1 game, you might not like it if you lose access to it or something sours your addiction. Remember, in these online games, you actually own nothing, and your progress goes towards nothing, there's a guy on the other end that can flip the switch on you at any time.
So it begins.

People have run to the LA forums in frustration and continuously complained. 90% failure rate or something in T1 beginner content resulting in Nerfs already! This is not even the hard stuff. xD

Better to tell people what the game is really like, at least that way there's a chance they dont get blindsided and try to get the game changed around them. Wishful thinking lmao.

Common complaints include BOT Infestation on all Regions, all servers, all channels with exception maybe major hubs farming 24/7. Estimated 35% of current numbers are Bots and maybe 200-300k in queues at peak, not actually playing. Problems officially recognised by Devs. Nice!

Unlike the bot infestation which is trying to be solved, the EU over population and queues amongst other things can not be solved/fixed or so they officially say. This means people have to put up with the situation, quit or wait for others to quit to get a better experience.

Classy. More news at 10 Kap

LA forums nicely show how the forum format stops working from a certain amount of people.

Structurally, it's the same as here, where some people act civilzed, but also every action done by the dev has a bunch of people passionately hating it, with a group hating literally everything and anything the dev ever does.

But while here it's like 5 ppl on each aspect, so the forum is fun and usable, there it's 100 people and the forums are much more like a twitch chat than anything else.
Makes sense. Twitch was a massive factor in their marketing hype with 1 Mil+? views on launch. Not surprising.

Also you may or may not like T.Chat but it can/does differ from stream to stream. Its really in the control of the streamer and their Mods, exception obvious extreme stuff lol.

To add even more.... I believe their forums require phone number to create an account unlike here so most will not go through the hassle unless serious/determined.
