Lost Ark is quest runner, POE is a mobb smasher, they don't even play similar
" " I mean c'mon man. This is absurd. The lead dev wrote what he wrote, and we are supposed to totally disregard it because... some rando forum goer says so and what the "real" reasons are on behalf of GGG's hidden agenda. Your credibility is really poor imo when you say stuff like this. You spouted off, got called out, and then doubled down with some incredible, unsourced, totally speculative, personal narrative. Embarrassing. Truly. "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt." - Abraham Lincoln Last edited by DarthSki44#6905 on Feb 15, 2022, 3:47:21 PM

" The post actually neither neglects my suppositions nor does it confirm any different reason. It simply states that while they could meet the Dec 10 date, they chose not to so players didn't have to choose which game they played. Out of the "Good" of Chris' heart, he totally didn't want players to have to choose between a console shooter game that is closer to a Grand Theft Auto and the furthest thing from a POE, and a new expansion, for ANY other reason outside the fact that he didn't want to dissimilar games to conflict, even though they mostly have entirely different player bases. Hm. I don't know if you choose to ignore me when I post, or choose to filter details, but I've actually been very intimate with many games' managements over the last 20 years, and gift cards are a MASSIVE consideration around Holidays. What people spend their money on is the only consideration that the two games have in common. There wasn't a massive uproar on GGG forums promoting Cyberpunk, so they didn't exactly have any evidence that players were going to jump ship. P.S. for something to be embarrassing, I would have to be embarrassed. I'm not. Everything I said is well founded and well considered. Meanwhile we have mountains of evidence that the executive posting the link you referenced ALWAYS pads and often uses misdirection in his posts when communicating with players. |

" Who said they aren't? I certainly didn't. I did however point as to WHY. We have had 3-4 months nonstop of paid streamers and in game provocateurs ramming Lost Ark down our throats hourly, and some of them have been definitely getting paid to do it. You could take any game, even a 100th remake of a Chess game for PC, and put enough hype-men behind it, and it would become a competitor with POE, simply because hype-men raised interest within THIS community. The facts are that the games are not even remotely similar in ANY WAY. Also, the player drop here also accompanied Scourge in October (almost Identical numbers) as well as the Drop after Expedition. It's not like 83% of the community quits playing as they arrive at Maps...... EVERY LEAGUE. Lost Ark was open to play SATURDAY. It's been open 3 days (They botched their own release date and delayed for over 14 hours), and has already lost a significant base. It also takes at least 3 days of nonstop play just to get to end play..... where extremely wealthy guilds already own all content. You don't think a lot of players from thousands of games are going to back out then? |

LA: Form a raid group to take down Elder Demonic Dragons to get actually useful items
PoE: Effortlessly kill a million of hamsters to buy best items of trade Uh oh why pepos leave |

" You can skip all the dialog and cutscenes in LA after you've cleared it once. Very few people play these games to skip dialog the first time they run into it and have no idea what the game is about, we've all read/listened to the PoE dialog at least once. Yes you must do certain quests and kill certain bosses to progress in Lost Ark, just like PoE. It takes under 10 hours to finish the LA campaign then hit level 50 if you know what you are doing and skip stuff. A more realistic ballpark for the campaign is 15-25 hours, which is roughly similar to how long it would take a new player to finish the campaign in PoE. Heck it often still takes me 20 hours to reach maps in a new league while skipping all dialog and just engaging with the league mechanic. |

" Be Honest. Have you actually played Lost Ark? I have a blue title above my head that says "Heroic Founder Noiradeth" with a Cerberus Mount and a white cat pet. I've actually played it and Steam makes it .... well... sad. Alienware with 100 MB DL after 40 min to an hour begins to freeze and slow because the throughput from Steam/LA is so great I have to delete over 60 GB in cache just from playing. I'm also in end game. It sucks. |

" I've spent precisely zero time in que...because I didn't choose a over flowing server. As for the last part, joking I assume but who knows " lol. Specs are relevant. Alienware( Dell) is not. Last edited by DamageIncorporated#7815 on Feb 16, 2022, 1:51:16 AM

LA has something severely lacking in PoE, which is PvP--very active PvP. So, yeah, I had my fun for several leagues killing mindless mobs (my standard chars and league totems prove that), but there will never be anything remotely close to balanced and popular PvP in PoE.
With regards to sever queues, I play in the US, and there are no problems in my server. Sucks for Europe, I guess. |

This thread has turned into something strange...
So Lost Ark is over there, having great success. Good for them and the players. But the question that needs asking, is this: Why on earth do you expect PoE to keep hold of players over a VERY anticipated Lost Ark release? Are we really expecting each freakin' league to compete with AAA releases around the world in terms of player numbers? I'm baffled. It's like people expect other people to play PoE 24/7. And if they're not, and it happens to show on some graph or in some numbers, PoE is dying. Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.

" Hey, look, I've found this quote of yours from like yesterday: " " Hype makes people try a game, its quality makes them stay. Seeing the tiny dropoff in active players LA has since the launch, there's a lot to back up the hype. Ironically, PoE is much more of a hype-beast than LA, given the sharp drop-off after every league launch. " They are quite similar to me - chaos dungeons give a lot of the running-a-map wibe and guardian raids are exactly like running poe bosses. " There's a big difference with having shit retention on a minor patch with terrible league mechanic and on having it with the major, yearly patch. " Wasn't the case pre-3.15 " Own what content, precisely? I mean, I'm only at T2 gear, but I haven't yet found anything that even could be owned...
