Endgame bosses are too easy, almost all abilities are dodged by moving in a random direction
The good thing about Sirus and last phase Maven is, that you need to dodge precisely , but with the new bosses, you can just keep moving and not get hit by the majority of their abilities. They are basically glorified map bosses.
GGG, i hope one of you is reading this. We need to fight not only the boss, but the terrain. Kitava is a good example of fighting the Terrain, but that is a boss that is only about fighting the terrain since he is stationary. You need to make the terrain in the bosses dangerous. Look at world of warcraft raid designs, and IMPLEMENT MORE. You guys did 2 of those this league, eater of worlds's spheres and searing ember guy's rolling balls. Now make it so that we do these things DURING THE FIGHT, not in an intermission, it is way too easy right now. And make it so that they have 2 or 3 more moves like these. These are PINNACLE BOSSES, and they are far too easy. You already have the means to make the quest ones easier, just make the invitation ones very hard, the bosses are a joke right now and it really brings down the epicness of the final boss. I will spit out some ideas that might fit. Eater of worlds spawns volatile dead style bubbles during the fight periodically, touching them though instantly deal damage. You can make them stop chasing you if they collide with protective bubbles that Maven spawns. GOOD IDEA that enhances the 2v1 factor. Searing embers spawn volatile enemies, like those of Alira's exploders that rush you, but these have more movementspeed. They charge up for 5 seconds and then cooldown for 5 seconds, kill them as melee while they are cooling down. Ranged characters get an advantage here, no biggy. Searing ember calls down big meteors that cover half the area but deal reduced damage towards the edges but deal sirus level meteors damage in the middle, this is done via a hidden animation during the regular fight, you can ONLY SEE THE SHADOW OF THE METEOR, NO VOICE LINES. This boss is an actual joke and we really need to be challenged more here, watching out in the arena's background and dodging towards the correct side is part of skill expression. Additionally, remove all intermission phases of all bosses, make them do their regular abilities while doing these mechanics special mechanics that involve thinking. I've fought mavened double atziri and shaper, and those 4-5 year old bosses involve MUCH MORE MICROMANGING AND SKIL EXPRESSION. The new stuff should be harder than the past stuff, please. We need to be challenged by thinking and micromanaging. Last edited by ancine#4913 on Feb 10, 2022, 9:17:39 AM Last bumped on Feb 13, 2022, 7:41:26 AM

Haha I find it entertaining that with everyone screaming about how many one-shots are in the game you make a post to request a ton more... :D

" people really don't mind telegraphed 1 shots. Sirus maze, minotaur burrow, phoenix discharge, atziri double flameblast, elder/shaper slam. These abilities are non-problematic and telegraphed, they make the fight exciting. Next league i plan on playing HC, and i really don't know how i could die on the new bosses. My softcore character which's only defense is 6k life and 100% spell suppression doesn't take any damage from these bosses. We got 6 portals and i just plan on logging out if I get burrowed under or during astral avalanche, nothing else makes you log out. Last edited by ancine#4913 on Feb 10, 2022, 9:18:55 AM

I kind of agree here. After fighting all 4 bosses, Black Star was the most engaging.
Infinite Hunger isn't dangerous. Just slow attacks that you can easily avoid. Acid phase is complete garbage though. Searing Exarch is similar. Very slow attacks that are easy to avoid. The only thing kind of fun is the bullet hell. I think this fight can be fixed if he continues attacking while the bullet hell phase is going. And I kinda hate to say it but Eater of Worlds is the same. Slow attacks you can side step. The big laser is similar to Chimera's smoke screen, but that's about it. The drowning balls do nothing. Black Star is great. There's rotating debuffs on the ground to avoid. Multiple attacks from multiple enemies to avoid. The pillar system is trash though. What's the point if they're going to break? But still, easily the best fight of the 4. It's not even close. |

" your softcore character is one that can run in circles while the damage does itself try something that has to stand in place to deal damage - and then we can talk. im sure you will soften your stance a little bit. like reverse it completely. |

A buff to their life and defenses would be nice. But then again - most of the time they don't drop anything so making them harder needs to be combined with better rewards.

I hope no one listens to you.
First roll a heavy strike build and do it all again. Keep your WOW bullshit out of this game. It seems some wants to turn this into a flipper pinball game instead of an ARPG. I've only fought the quest-versions of the bosses so far so I'm not really qualified to weigh in on difficulty balance of the content on farm-tier, but if anything this thread is really just another "I can't believe GGG didn't nerf Poisonous Concoction" thread.
Because, not to disparage the work I'm sure you put into farming the items for your build and all that, Poison Concoction is an established "T1 broken OP super meta" -type skill. Of course the content is going to feel easy when you play a broken build that literally could have received a 70% damage nerf and still been meta. I'm not saying you shouldn't play PC while it's strong, because we all know the nerf has to be coming. It's in the game, so why not use it? I played Winter Orb Trickster back in Synthesis when it was literally 65% of the ladder, so I'm NEVER gonna say people shouldn't abuse strong skills which GGG forgets to balance. I'm just saying, when you know that you're using a completely busted skill or build, that needs to be taken into context when you talk about content balance. |

i want what this guy is smoking!

" no offense, but i just find it funny the guy with low challenges doesn't want the game to be harder whereas the guy that has 37 wants it to be harder. Like obviously people want to cater to themselves, but maybe just git gud? As time goes on, people learn the bosses even more, and these bosses will be trivial in a few leagues for the majority of the playerbase once they gather experience. Ok, so, First of all, this is a PINNACLE BOSS, and not every build should be able to clear it, right now, i am pretty sure they can. Second of all, WoW has good raid designs and can give you good ideas that you can copy in your own game, taking inspiration and applying it in a way it makes sense for a singleplayer arpg imo is good. And lastly, my complaint was how few dangerous damage moves they have and how easy they are to dodge. Playing heavy strike build or not is irrelent, you are not going to die, you will just take longer. The only dangerous and GOOD boss design is the black star in that regard, since prolonging the fight and being melee requires you to interact with the mechanics more, the other bosses don't have mechanics, just damaging abilities. You are not fighting their terrain, which is why i said for the devs to take a page out of wow, where you are fighting the terrain a lot because if every damaging ability came from the boss, the game would be too easy. The searing ember guy is much easier than the blackstar, his only dangerous move is the discharge ability. The eater of worlds's tentacles are extremely easy to dodge, you just move out of the way, because they always target you, so as long as you move 30 units in any direction, you are good.
