[Solution found!] Even more CPU spikes after the patch; the game is unplayable.

I don't have much to add, but I'm also having this problem. Hope they fix this soon.
Edit: and I'm on an Intel i7 as well.. (i7-8700K)

Same here. Game was fine before the patch, now its basically unplayable as I am skipping around everywhere. If I wasnt necro, it would be impossible to progress.

So, this might be a sound issue. I was on Medium channel count. Set it to Low, turned off reverb, and the game is mostly playable. Instead of constantly going from 20MS to 300+MS, its now occaisonally doing it to 70-150ms. Its not nearly as bad as it was.

Hooooooraaaayyyyy!!!!!!!!!!!!1111

They fixed it!!!

3.17 is completely fine, no CPU spikes at all!

DON'T FORGET TO ENABLE YOUR HYPER-THREADING in BIOS now guys, cause you'll be getting spikes with HT off (it's kinda reversed, it's the same bug actually, but now it manifests itself with HT off, not when HT on).

GOOD JOB GGG!!!

It's not fixed for everyone. I'm glad yours is working, but please stop speaking for everyone and claiming the problem is completely solved in every thread.

Power Siphon Locus Mine Trickster in Settlers of Kalguur
bug still present on i7-4970 non-k.

disabling hyperthreading in bios does stop the spikes but not a viable solution for me. 20% less frames in other games when testing.

i tried a few potential fixes noted here on a recent reddit post with *no* luck;

setting processor affinity on PathOfExile.exe with process lasso (disabling hyperthreading)

disabling intel turbo with thottlestop app (also tried manually in bios)

some more info on the 'fixes' here;

would love to see some acknowledgment of this bug, it appears to be ruining the experience for quite a few players

thanks GGG! <3
Same problem on my i7 2600k. Started happening last league and its actually worse this patch. I pm'd support and they told me it's my pc and not to message them...this is a serious issue and they don't care.
Same issue here on a intel i7-4790k. On intense situations CPU usage dramatcially increases upto 100% causing fps drop and for me also Graphic Artifacts.

Disabling Hyperthreading or anything did not work at all.
Similar if not same issue...runtime error but I have graphical issues prior to crash

Been playing POE for ~9y and this is a new issue with 3.17.

I deleted and reinstalled POE and confirmed all drivers are up to date changed my settings to low...nothing helps

i5 6600K
EVGA Geoforce GTX1070
POE is installed on a M.2 SSD

No issues with anything else
I've lost control of the controls...
Jesus take the wheel"
RAizQT during Kammel HC race
Same for me
impossible to play
i have to turn off engine multithreading and play with 1 core . low fps but no spikes
