I think it's a really poor attempt at trying to appease those of us that are really concerned about bloat, because as you said, it's so disconnected from the game already. Most people will hardly know its gone.

It's called metrics.

Doing something based on what 0.1% of the playerbase rant about instead of looking at what the other 99.9% are doing is ludicrous.

Almost nobody interacts with prophesies, of those that do its usually an afterthought while turning in some divination cards like "oh yeah, i forgot about that thing".

If your going to rant about Talisman, you might as well rant about any non-T1 base items as those are all trash passed leveling gear.

If your going to rant about tormented spirits, you might as well just rant about all sorts of different monsters that annoy you (which people do i suppose).

Talismans however i can not see a valid place for them within the current game, I would like them to remain but they definitely need to be change in some way to make them more attractive as outside of a couple specific rolls a marble amulet basically outclasses a talisman which is hilarious.
